I am getting close to needing new tires and I might want to go up a size with tires and or wheels. I am currently running on Terra Grappler 275/70/18's and a 2" Bilstein front level.

The black wheel covers and fender flares are making my 33's look small. I am considering going to 20 inch wheels or at least a matte chrome or lighter colored wheel as I think those look bigger. (black is slimming) Also looking at 34 in. tires. 295/60/20 or 295/70/18

Suggestions or ideas, what are you running and pics.

UPDATE: This weekend I ended up buying these wheels after a couple of drinks and finding them on this forum. They have 25 offset and should give me some room and I am sticking with 18's for a little better ride quality. My current tires have several miles on them yet so I have time to decide there.

With your lift/level 295X70R18 would look nice on aftermarket wheels. You’ll probably need to take off the front bumper mud flap. Personally, I don’t know why Toyota put them on in the 1st place. Just my opinion.

That size is one I am looking at. They are 11.6 wide so I was unsure about fit and trimming.

Don’t go with 20’s unless you want the look of a bigger rim. 18’s will ride a lot more comfortable.

I like the 295/70-18 or 295/60-20 if you want a little wider tire, but reaaaalllly like the 285/75-18 overall. A half inch taller at 34.8”, and a tad narrower at ~11.4 if I remember correctly. It’s a skinny 35…

    It's so simple.
Larger then 35" and you're screaming 5'4" and my belt buckle weighs more than me.
Larger than 18" wheels and again screaming - I was great in band and I love to dance.

I am now looking at these wheels in 18X9 and 20 mm. offset. That should give me some room with either the 11.8 or 11.2 wide wheels. ,

    Now the the tire size....

At a +20mm offset, you may need to do a BMC. Be prepared for that. An alignment shop that is willing to add some more caster (pushes wheels forward) might be able to get you the clearance.

probably some good deals today on rims from Method, RRW, Icon etc..They usually run 20 to 24% off for black friday.
I would go 295/70R18 if you mostly do streets. Off road then 35"s.

So now I am more confused again which isn't too difficult. I thought from reading here that a 20 or 25 offset was ideal to clear the arms and everything else. Maybe it is the stock wheels with 60 ?

You’re on the right track as far as clearance from the UCA. Fat tires on a +60mm stock wheel will likely rub the UCA.

But, if you go too far out, like a zero offset, you’re likely going to have the outer edge of the tire hit the fender liner or body mount when you turn sharp.

The proverbial sweet spot for our trucks is in the +25 to +35mm offset. This provides good UCA clearance, as well as decent clearance to the fender liner and body mount when you turn.

Will a +20mm work? Maybe! Tires are all a little different in actual size and sidewall chunkiness. Be prepared to trim or massage some truck parts for full clearance, and you should be able to make it work. Caster adjustment can also help with body mount clearance, but will decrease clearance in the front of the fender opening. Bumper shims, a different bumper, or heating/massaging the fender liner are common fixes at that end.

Hope that helps clear the water!

Definitely stay away from 20” wheels. A larger wheel creates an optical illusion that the overall tire size looks smaller. Most 295/70/18’s won’t require a CMC whereas most 35’s will. If you’re willing to do a chop, I’d go with a 35. And not to confuse you even more, but if you’re going 35, you might consider a 17” wheel. I personally think the meaty tires on 17’s look way better. Plus the tires are much cheaper in 17’s.

I like the 34 tall and 11 in wide tires but there is limited selection and they are higher than giraffes tits in that size. Thanks for the help so far. I tend to paralyze myself with over researching stuff.

If you stay with 18s, 285/75/18 fill out the wheel wells nicely.

    How about a 275/75-18 or a 275/65-20 then? Pretty much a 34 x 10.8 if I remember correctly. Probably as close as you’ll find to a 34x11.

My current tires are a 275/65-20 and they’ve served me very well. I’m just ready to get new tires on soon and have decided to go a little bigger with 18” wheels.

I am not seeing a 275/75/18 tire anywhere. I do see a 285/75/18 but the selection is limited. I will look at the Toyo and nitro in that size. Thanks

Sorry about that, Steve! I knew that a 275/65-20 was real, and just assumed that the 18” equivelant was out there since so many other tires are available in both wheel sizes.

    For examples:
    275/55-20 and 275/65-18 for stock.
    275/60-20 and 275/70-18 for a +1.
    295/60-20 and 295/70-18 for a chubby 34.

So many others, I’m surprised that the 275/75-18 is not out there!

I think you should like those, but I may be a little biased because I have 5 of the exact same wheels waiting in boxes till I wear my current tires out…

    Nice choice!
