I have a 2010 Tundra limited TRD 4wd and had some serious problems getting off the ice fishing last Sunday. Transmission was not engaging well in drive or reverse when in 4 high. Eventually, when in 4 low pulling my Ice castle off the ice, the transmission stopped working in reverse and neutral is drive. Since I cannot shift out of 4 low, I had a very long drive 30 miles back home in 4 low at 15mph. I warmed the vehicle up in my barn and no joy. My son watched the linkage shifting into neutral and it apparently is moving fine. So is this a cracked valve or a broken solenoid? Transmission shifted gears in drive fine in 4 low on the way home and had zero slip in any gears before this trip. The temp outside was -14 F for high temp and -30 F for low temps. Not wind chill. 15-20 mph winds on lake.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. I changed the filter and fluid putting the exact amount taken out this last summer and have put about 5,000 miles on since doing a filter and pan fluid change.

I had a similar situation with my 2wd 2010 crewmax.

I needed a transmission. Hope you have better luck.

Did you get the issue resolved? I've got the same truck that drives in neutral and no reverse

Looking at subsequent posts, it looks like he replaced the transmission. Do you tow/haul heavy loads often?

    Many on the way.
My 2009 Land Cruiser (same driveline) had a similar issue. It turned out to be a buggered neutral safety switch. Installed a new switch, which was a bit of a pita, as parts of were corroded and locked onto the shaft… then properly adjusted, and it was good to go. Perhaps you will be so lucky?

Just put a napa neutral switch on, had to cut the old one off coroded to the shaft. Tried to adjust it like alldata pictured but wasn't exactly the same. It shows the gear it's in on the dash exactly when the transmission detents.
Not sure where to go next
