"Well, yeah, it was my primary mode of transportation, I can't let some scumbag thief stop me from earning a paycheck! I'm a single dad FFS, what am I supposed to do here?!"

Really nail it home. I hate playing the victim card, but I hate thieves and liars 10x more.

Oh, I didn't get it back. Insurance totaled it. That fuck head spray painted it white. But I had already had the Aprilia already bought by the point. I just had to go to Plano to pick it up.

I can't imagine being a LEO in the climate we have now. Around here we call it "going fetal" they don't do anything unless they are told to/have to.
Some of the shit I see on the daily is nuts. It's been like the wild fkn west some days!
A neighbor kid I watched grow up became a LEO. He said "Unless it's a call, we aren't doing anything. It's dangerous out there".
He is currently in flight school out in Denver CO.

Had to hit the local CVS to get Mucinex D. Can’t take it anymore.

Get into the truck, back out, pull forward, get on the street. Everything seems normal…. Until ….

I get a few blocks away, and hit a rough patch in the road, and the map and dome lights flicker on, and I see some lights in the gauge cluster light up. Hit a few more bumps and each time, same thing, and I’m hearing electrical clicking noises. Now, it’s raining out mind you, so I’m thinking “Ah damn, I’ve got the fusebox leak!!!”

Pull over and stop the truck. Turn it off. Pull the key, open my drivers side door to make the truck turn off all the lights. Wait 5 seconds. Re-start the truck, just in case it was a weird connection. Drive 2 blocks, hit some more bumps and shit starts again. I’m thinking back thru work I’ve done recently.

    Installed my subs… nothing electrical

Pulled the rear seat for sound deadening… nothing electrical

swapped out the three center dash T10 bulbs for LEDs, but how in the hell would that cause this?!!

Then I hit another bump and noticed one of the two lights coming on was the door light. Which explains the overhead lights strobing. Pull over. Reach over the passenger seat to open and close the front door.

    Problem solved.

Weird part is the door wasn’t clearly sitting un-flush to the body when I got in, I hafta walk by it. But I guess for some reason it wasn’t fully latched or something. Guess I didn’t close it firmly enough after reinstalling the rear seat last night.

How weird. Anyway, lesson learned. If your interior lights are flashing on and off and you hear clicking, check your doors……

You park in a garage, right? Nobody walking by, checking unlocked doors? Not seeing anything worth taking immediately?

tbh, I'd be calling a priest first... I've been down that road of flashing lights in a house and I'm the only one there, or strange knocks on the passenger side on some random road in the middle of nowhere...
On another note, I remember Toyota's were known to have issues with door locks and passenger doors that don't always latch all the way. Gotta slam it shut, even then it took 2 or 3 tries, previous experience was a 78 Celica when I was younger had to take a running start to slam it shut, lol.

I was at a Les Paul show in NYC (obviously a few years back) standing in line after the show to shake his hand and get his autograph. Two guys flew in the door exclaiming "yes...we made it". So as they were behind me in line I was talking to the one guy holding his guitar. He said "I was here years ago and Les signed my guitar. Later, someone stole it!". He explained that the police had recently recovered the guitar, but in an attempt to conceal their crime they SANDED THE SIGNATURE OFF!!! "We just drove up all the way from Atlanta so that Les could sign it again" (Les was in his 90's at this time...who knew how long he'd live to sign it again).

Fuck heads indeed! Perhaps the only crime worse than stealing a man's guitar would be to desecrate it in such manner.

I was seriously in that camp, not gonna lie. Random lights flickering? And I swore the engine was bogging down, but it was probably just my imagination. I was thinking the worst, seriously.

Actually what would be worse is making up that story and sanding a spot on your guitar to make it believable so you can get his signature before he dies and sell it for 2x or 3x what was paid originally. I thought he stopped signing merchandise? Maybe I have him confused with another artist.

Looping back. Still stuck indoors and going cabin-fever-stir-crazy. Folks just arrived.

This is where I landed with the wrenches. I ended up with a big leftover pile I'm donating to the neighbor kid, anything I had more than 3-4 of went in the pile. I found I'm shy a couple of metric box-ends for these 'spares' which was surprising.

I don't see this as a "That's all, folks!" but at least it cleared a drawer out. Now I just need to find new storage for my BFHes, line hammer, and mallets which were sitting here before. Maybe in the drawer these came out of? (j/k, that's where the open-end wrenches landed)

Nah, Les would sign anything...even a Fender! (BTW, Les died in 2009, in the same hospital in which I was born).

Stephen King, on the other hand, might have the most valuable signature ever.

The real question is... did each receive the 'joy' assessment???

If so, we'd have to assume that all items hanging (fuck I'm like a 14 year old) gave you joy; everything else ended up in the trash!!!!

You gotta scroll back up through the conversation and then do some research if you're not familiar...

Never mind; I'll walk you through it...

You had a disaster of tools laying around that you wanted to straighten up.

I suggested that you Marie Kondo that shit...

Marie Konda was some HGTV chick that did closet and home uncluttering projects...

She was always making people throw away a bunch of excess 'stuff' they had laying around

When the people she was helping would get hung up on whether or not they should keep something, she'd have them pick it up and hold it for a bit; she'd then tell them if the item doesn't bring them 'joy' to get rid of it...

    :hattip:

Ah - thanks. I'm a little slow atm. I needed that. But yeah, there's some book a former coworker tried to get me to read 10-12 years ago that was of Japanese origin and had similar concept.

"joy assessment" just sounded so ... I dunno, like, dirty or something. But that's probably true for half of the stuff I hear day-in/day-out. :D

Saw this and I feel like it encapsulates the utter stupidity/absurdity that is “modern trucks”. So glad I have an OG truck.

And I saw this tiny thing yesterday. I don't understand the back window decal but the truck nuts were an interesting touch. The picture makes the truck look bigger than it is.

Trigger pulled! Normally I'm pretty frugal and wouldn't be ballin' out like this, but the cash injection from insurance makes this money easier to part with. I'll put these into some new Depo capa certified housings.

Exactly what you want to be doing when you’ve got a 10lb smoked turkey and 6-7lb of brisket holding for tomorrow. I thought it was the flu, but … starting to feel more like a sinus infection.

EDIT: Test ended up being neg, so off to the doc I went… don’t want to be that asshole who spreads something nasty to a bunch of older people. Doc doesn't know what it is. "Sounds viral". "Not flu or RSV though. No clue." Super helpful, doc....
