Nobody in the U.S. wants a typical battery plant anywhere near them. I would think most are now in Mexico. They are big time polluters. There was an Interstate (I believe) plant on north side of DFW. After it shut down the clean up lasted for many years.

More likely one of the most ideal climates in the world for batteries got you ten years on the OEM battery...

Here in the PNW, batteries tend to last 5-10 years.

When I moved to Arizona for a few years, I was shocked at how quickly auto batteries died. 2-3 years was the max.

My new to me 2021 1794 Edition is a Texas truck and the OEM battery doesn't seem all that strong. Will be adding that to the list of things to buy before winter hits in a few weeks.

I run an Optima red top in my GTO that is close to 10 years old and only now showing its age.

For reference, I place the car in storage for 3-4 months at a time with the battery disconnected. This was the first year the battery required a jump when starting her up after a 4 month hibernation.

I plan to get another Optima for the GTO and one for the Tundra when the time comes.

Dealer replacement (free) because at 60k, servicing included checking the battery. They brought it out to me afterwards, turned it off, and it then wouldn't start for me. One then started to say, 'Oh, did you say it hesitated before you brought it in?', when I was specifically saying NOTHING was wrong before then. He got close to chewed out. They did something wrong, I'm fairly certain...I made them document it, if I started having electrical issues, and last time they saw my truck. Still salty.

Original battery just died on me - 23k miles and about 43 months since I took delivery. Was working fine, no signs of any issues or difficulty starting. Stopped at the store for 5 minutes and came back out to it a no start - just completely dead, didn't even make a sound. Couldn't even jump start it...
AutoZone was across the street so I ended up with their Duralast Platinum EFB 27F. Thinking next time I may be proactive around the 36 month mark and replace it before I'm stuck.

Same thing happened to my daughter in her Tacoma. Went into the bank and came out and completely dead. It was 3 1/2 years old.

My AGM battery lasted 11 years. It was in the right place for AGM battery: in the cold trunk of the vehicle registered in the cold state ;) It would probably lived even longer, but the vehicle did 270 degree turn after smashing a few trees and then a boulder. The battery got transferred into the donor chassis, along with the drivetrain and interior, however it was damaged and eventually had to be replaced. I still use it to run my 70qt bed fridge.

Had good luck with the Walmart Everstart Maxx brand. Was there the other day and surprised that they don't sell the 27f.

Yeah I did! I think those were 6 or 4 ga wires I got off Amazon. Same with terminals, Vgate off Amazon.

. The terminal posts on my new battery are larger in diameter, and further forward on the case so I need a few more inches of wiggle room (yes I chuckled when I said that)

When my OEM died the dude at WalMart told me they quit selling the 27s because they weren't selling. I figured the average WalMart customer is looking for the cheapest batterry.

Yeah, the X2 group34 were reverse polarity (opposite side if I tried to get the terminals closer to the OE battery wires). Had to get longer ones to keep it on the OE sides.

Thats what I got. I always overthink everything and upgrade as I go. No not doing it with a battery, my original was replaced with that one at 6years and was still ok. I keep a jump starter in my car for an emegency and if it starts acting up I will get a new one

Just bought the Napa brand with 830 CCA for $169 with tax. They even installed it for me.

    Installed this one yesterday
    https://www.westmarine.com/odyssey-group-27-dual-purpose-agm-battery-92-amp-hours-20084562.html

with the battery posts being about 5” forward from the stock posts, I had to extend my battery cables .
    https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/super-start/battery---accessories/battery-cable/97f343b1aaa1/super-start-4-gauge-10-inch-battery-cable/ss01/sk8410r

    https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/...art-4-gauge-10-inch-battery-cable/ss01/sk8409

Re-terminated my accessory connections so there are less dissimilar metals in contact , now mainly copper.

Made a wiring harness with an Anderson connector to allow easier charging of the battery , since AGM’s need a higher charging profile.

Put the voltage booster fuse in place of the Alt-s fuse .

Replaced the original with a Walmart Everstart AGM 27F. At dealership for an oil change, they tell me my CCA is low. Maybe trying to sell me a new battery? Went back to Walmart and to my surprise when they checked battery/paperwork I had ~32 days left on their 4 year replacement warranty. Got a new AGM installed free of charge! Guess I lucked out ... you can't beat that!

I just purchased a Napa legend 27f on their cyber monday 25% off sale. Website said mfg is EastPenn/Deka (which is right down the road from me). My OE is 4 years old and is outside 24/7 so I figured it was time.

AdvancedAutoParts cyber Monday code would not work on their DuraLast battery. I did pick up some front brake pads from AAP. I'll need them at some point and I'd rather buy on sale.
