Side bolsters are a key thing, 6'2,250 people and larger need some accommodating and especially in the truck market. I get they're shaving weight all over to make MPG-EPA improvements wherever possible, but you can't go on making seats for tiny people in giant vehicles, come on now!

They look like new after a year. The edge to edge coverage is awesome with kids/dogs/work boots, especially with the flat floor in the back. :anonymous:

Ditto, I hate driving the Fords and Chevys in our fleet. The ones I enjoy driving are our Tahoes. Tundra seats are way more comfortable, even my Mustang seats are more comfortable.

I have already said somewhere here. Each seat mates with each back a bit differently.

My 09 Tundra, I needed a break from after 4-6 hours.

My 2016 challenger RT had leather and adjustable height lumbar but I still needed a break every 2-3 hours no matter what height I put the lumbar support.

My Powerboost has stationary lumbar and is only I think 8 way. I don't remember it feeling remarkable on the test drive but knew I hit the jackpot when I felt fresh as a daisy at the end of the first 6 hour road trip. They managed to give me a seat I can feel good in all day long with no lower back aggravation with just basic adjustments.

I am 44 yo, 5'8" 210 . I was last under 200 probably in high school. I lift weights, run, do incline situps, pushups and sprint workouts. Yesterday I ran a mile and a half on the treadmill then launched into rounds of situps, pushups and pullups with no rest. My core is plenty strong but my lower back has seen a little bit of abuse and gets achy after several hours in crappy seats, even if I can pass a lot of LEO pt tests if someone told me to get up and take one tomorrow morning.

With that the massaging seats in the Ford 150 Limited I think can bring you pretty close to a happy ending.

I was messing around on the 2024 configurations the other day trying to build what I have, an XLT high 2 tone Powerboost. If I read right now, when I bought a couple years ago there was a base XLT and an XLT high. Now there is an XLT mid that popped up in between. Apparently just so a basket of more options could be separated out and moved to a more costly XLT high package.

It doesn't look like prices went up much until you realize stuff you used to get standard in the top xlt trim has been moved to a new more expensive package.

The differences are next level all around, I went and figured I'd see what the F150/F250 are all about today, Lariat F150 and Tremor in F250. Comfort, fit and finish are way off between Toyota and Ford, just is. I will hold my Tundra the next couple years, but if I stay with a truck after it won't be this one I have. Very surprised in the new Fords.

I'm really struggling with this now. I currently have a 2020 F-150 Lariat SuperCab, 3.5 EcoBoost. I love the truck, but it has had more issues than any friends' or coworkers' 15-20 F-150s. It isn't the common stuff that usually goes wrong on these trucks either - it's oddball problems that very few others seem to experience. I'm willing to give Ford another chance given my first F-150 was well built and reliable and this one was built just after the COVID shutdowns started.

I'm weighing another F-150 or a Tundra. I've now driven both (23 Tundra SR5 Double Cab and 23 F-150 Lariat PowerBoost SuperCrew). I really like having a loaded truck in a smaller cab with a 6.5' bed, which is now Tundra only, so it earns a lot of points there. Trying to keep it to the top 5 pros for each truck:

    Tundra Pros
    • Comes in the cab/option combination I want (Limited Double Cab). They're rare, but I have a dealer willing to get one via an allocation request if I give them the go-ahead.
    • Pricing is better - For the trucks I'd want, Tundra's MSRP is about $7k lower than Ford's Invoice.
    • Composite Bed - had one on my Tacoma and loved it.
    • Reliability & Resale - More confidence in Toyota and the resale value should be at least a little better than others.
    • Some cool features like the digital rearview mirror option and the ability to get a moonroof on a double cab.

    F-150 Pros
    • Utility and Visibility are much better. The larger windows help a lot and the back bumper design makes sense/it has tow hooks.
    • Seat comfort is also much better. My 2020 F-150 Leather seats are much more comfortable than the 2023 Tundra's Softex seats. The 2023 F-150's seats were even better - near Volvo level.
    • Has 4WD Auto - I'd hate to give this up.
    • Aluminum body - no rust worries, lower weight = higher payload and fuel economy.
    • Rear seat area is much more useful for items. The Tundra's back seat has very little usable floor space due to the large driveshaft hump and unnecessarily huge under seat storage bins. This is compared to my current truck to be apples to apples (not crew vs double).
At this point, I'm leaning F-150 if I can get the pricing closer to the Tundra. This would mean invoice pricing + a PCO + another cash incentive and/or lower APR. I'll pay a little more for an F-150, but not $7k+ more.

Do you tow alot? I read your pros and cons and don't disagree but from real word experiences that I've read, the tundra wins hands down. . .again, I don't own a Ford so I can't confirm.

A few times a year, typically around 6000 lbs. I have always been super impressed with how my F-150 tows. Loads of power, doesn't need to rev high, stability is good. MPGs don't seem significantly better or worse than towing with competitive trucks.

There's a chance that the Tundra wins in this department, but for the amount I do it isn't really a factor. Plus I have noticed no negatives in how my F-150 tows.

Go with the Ford. You seem to like f150 so stay with it. You said it , seats are more comfortable in a Ford, so why would you want to buy a truck with less comfortable seats?

I agree with you that Ford xlt seats were much softer and more comfortable than Tundra

Tundra does have aluminum body panels, not all but most. Comes with a heated steering wheel if ordered that way. Ford parts are $1000.00 to add one on yourself and Ford gives you $140 credit so that's a good deal .
What ever your happy with is what matters, I had to dump the Ford due to there warranty policy. But if you do get a F150 feel free to stop over and beat on us a little. I'm still on the Ford forums doing the same!

Yeah that is some BS. It's definitely one of those features that I wouldn't have ever ordered (came on my truck with the 402A package) but now that I have it I use it way more than I thought I would. For sure wouldn't pay $1000 to add it though.

Ford forum members are saying the steering wheel was $150 now $500! I won't go without it either as I'm a mechanic so my hands are pretty sore on some days.

I'm in my truck for at least an hour and a half per day, so although it might not be important to some it is to me. The Tundra seats weren't bad - very average. Better than my fiancee's CX-5 seats. But, the Ford ones are noticeably above average. I've driven my truck 6 hours without a stop before and the seats never bother me.

I try to be fairly brand agnostic. I had a Tacoma for four years and loved it, but didn't buy a Tundra to replace it due to the awful gas mileage of the previous generation. Now that the new generation's out and a new truck is lining up with that, it's up for consideration again. One of the huge plusses for the Tundra for me is the availability of a double cab limited. With an F-150, I'd have to get a crew cab to get the options I want which is kind of pointless for the way I use my truck.

The other plus with Toyota that I hadn't mentioned before is the dealer - there's a very good dealer a half hour away. The closest Ford dealer is awful to deal with. The closest good Ford dealer is an hour away.

I haven't looked too closely at Ram or GM because I like the 10-speed/twin turbo V6 powertrain. Anecdotal, but I've also had multiple friends and coworkers with strand you on the side of the road type problems on newer GM and Ram trucks. Most common stories I've heard were GM with failing oil cooler lines and Ram with electrical issues. My Ford has had annoying stuff, but at least it's nothing that's going to stop it in its tracks right away.

I was looking at window stickers for 2023 F-150s and it seems like after a certain date, they come with that option again. The one I drove had the heated wheel. They were still missing the brake light mounted camera (Tundra I drove had that) and the "advanced security pack" (my truck has this, I think it's mostly motion sensors in the cab). They had tiny credits in place of those. Good to know about the aluminum - I'll have to dig into that more.

One other thing I haven't confirmed - can you definitely remote start the Tundra with a key forever? It looked like although there's no dedicated button, there's a combination that works though I didn't try it on the one I drove. My Ford has the key and the app - app doesn't require a subscription. I rarely use the app, though, since the key is quicker and easier. It'd be irritating if the Tundra key method is locked behind a subscription like the app is. My fiancee's Mazda is app only, free for three years but Mazda hasn't said what the cost will be after that.

I had a Tacoma for 7 years before my F-150, absolutely loved it. To answer the question about remote start, if you want that, you will have to pay Toyota for that privilege

The proliferation of the crew cabs kills me. I could probably get away with a regular cab, but it's nice to have some extra interior space. The extended cab Fords have been perfect for that. That's why the double cab Tundra is appealing. I can count on one hand how often someone has been in the back seat of my current truck.

I do like creature comforts since the truck is my daily driver. The market for a smaller cab well-optioned truck is slim and everyone has abandoned those customers except Toyota. Part of me wants to buy the Tundra specifically to vote with my wallet.

I'm certainly not using it for farming or anything like that. House work (sheetrock, plywood, mulch, etc.), towing wood pellets home, transporting my ATV, things like that. The Ford issues I've had are, fortunately, not stop you in your tracks sort of things but it's always annoying to have to deal with any sort of warranty repair.

Mine was a great truck too - had it up to 150,000 miles with only a few issues. Only thing I didn't like was the seating position, but I hear they're changing that for 2024 - and unlike the Tundra it sounds like they can come with an AWD transfer case. I pondered that option a bit, but I don't really want to be fighting for one of the first new Tacomas off the line and probably paying dearly for it. I also like having a little more capacity and capability than I use - I'd be right up against the limits sometimes with a Tacoma.

The remote start thing is super irritating - when we're talking $60k+ vehicles that they're probably pulling 5-figure profit numbers on, we shouldn't be nickel and dimed after the fact.

I think that 2.5 Gen’ers lamenting about the good old days has more effect on this 3rd Gen forum ….8^)
All the Big 3 guys are offering 5 finger discounts right now. With all the electronics and gadgetry all these new trucks have including Toyota, buy the one with the features you need, keep a few years or until the bumper to bumper warranty is over, then flip it.
The 10 year truck ownership thing is over. Some die hard Toyota fanboys don’t want to admit this.
Within even 5 years these current trucks will be so different then what you see today.
