In public school we learned tires + rims = wheels and not tires + wheels = wheels. :notsure:

Must be an east coast thing. Ooor your old enough that everything had spoke wheels, so they were actually called rims all the time.

Let me ask you this; what does a covered wagon roll on?

Wheels. Never heard them called anything else in all those Saturday westerns.

Wagon wheels of course, but people mounted tires to the rim of a wheel, so that’s most likely how it came about to be call rim instead of wheel.

Yup. Then they developed rubber (tires) to wrap around the wheels, giving us wheels and tires.

The term “wheel” feels too ambiguous to me because it refers to both the wheel and tire around here. It’s probably why I hear the term “rim” instead of “wheel” more often.

Got passed by a jeep in a 40mph zone coming out of a little town, double yellow. I was doing 45. He passed me like I was sitting still.

But I got over my anger because the car coming towards us was a MARKED SC HP. He had the blue lights on before the jackass finished passing me. I pulled over in the ditch to get out of the patrolman's way when he turned around coming after the jackass. To the Jackass's credit he didn't make the patrolman work to catch him, he went ahead and pulled over. Just wished I knew how many tickets he got.

A rim is a part of a wheel.
A rim is also part of a coffee cup, but you don't call a cup a rim
I get why the nickname "rim" stuck, but it still sounds stupid.
And a wheel plus a tire doesn't equal a wheel. The whole thing isn't called a wheel.
    2 separate things.
Anyway, something that really gets on my nerves are people that keep inching forward when stopped at a red light. It doesn't make the light change faster, moron.

    If I had to guess:
Failure to maintain lane, unlawful crossing of a lane, failure to signal 100’ before or something. A combo of the above or just one. (presuming he’s licensed, insured, current reg)

Motorcycles do this all gaddam summer here.
I get stopping off to the side so you can be seen in the side mirror, but whyTF do you need to be 2" from someone's bumper!?
Here's another one: when they think it's cute to ride side by side and they're both riding on the lines. That's stupid on so many levels.
I'm not anti bike. I used to ride. But my god there are so many idiots on bikes.

People that need to cut in front of you to get their exit.

Had a fella last night that crammed his way in between my nose and the car that was about a car length in front of me. No cars behind me for a hundred yards, but this renob just had to pass one more car…

With his little Honda car being so low, I didn’t even feel bad when my 40” Baja Designs S8 in the hood bulge accidentally turned on.

I really need to investigate what happened. Must have just been a glitch, because it hasn’t malfunctioned like that again. Scary…

People that don’t move on a green light. It doesn’t take you that long to scan an intersection when weather and roads are nice to proceed.

Devil's advocate here, bikes get rear-ended. A lot. By snugging up and to the side they can scoot out of the idiots path if they watch their mirrors, and being closer to the guy in front means the guy behind them might see the car and stop before rolling over the bike.

As for lane sharing, debatable practice. I'd never do it because I don't trust anyone else and I want that space to move into if something comes up that requires evasive action. Staggered columns is best.

Sticking to the outside or inside line is dependent on the situation. I am usually over to the left of the lane so the car in front of me isn't blocking me from oncoming traffic. Don't want those guys to try and turn left in front of me. Conversely, I'll hug the right side if there's roads/parking lots where idiots will try to pull out in front of me, because it makes me easier for me to be seen.

LOTS of idiots on bikes, and even more who post their stupidity online. One moron posted up his 20 minute run from Colorado Springs to Denver on his Gixxer. I 100% reported that stupid shit and yootoob nuked the video, but I'm sure there are a thousand more shitwits just like him out there.

Count to three before moving into an intersection. You'll be amazed how often some idiot blasts through and could have hit you if you hadn't. :boink:

They can scan faster lol. I just watch speeds around me before entering (most times) in winter weather, I will sit there (if safe) for a few seconds.

An absolute must here where I am. Unfortunately, because of the moron here that controls the traffic lights (locally controlled and not by the state DOT), if you count to three in some of our intersections you'll miss the green altogether, especially if you get a left turn green and hesitate. Was in the left turn lane Saturday, light turned green, first car went with no hesitation, light went yellow by the time the second care was turning.

    This morning's "angry rant":

Fools that won't pass a school bus because the lights "might" come on. This is only my assumption, but it seems reasonable after being behind the folks that ride along side (left lane), or slightly behind the bus at the same speed. Pass the damn bus if the lights aren't on!

Staggered traffic signals. I'm far from a civil engineer but I fail to see the reasoning behind this in most places.

The above mentioned short light cycles

    Rant over...for now

Normally I just laugh stuff off but!!!!,,,,, on a busy two lane road speed limit 55 person decides to stop and let an on coming car take a left!! I laid on the horn a good while!!!!!

People in left lane stopping for no reason in busy traffic, and people that stop at green lights!!! WOW!!!:(

People who drive up my ass in their car when I’m driving in the slow lane.

Why?? Are you trying to reduce drag and save on gas? Please do it to a tractor trailer instead!

If I’m going too slow for you, then pass!
