You don't drink coffee... So why would you, and why would you need to waste precious time and RAM learning the process??

 

I had French press coffee for the first time at buddy's in my 30s.
It was really good so I bought all the stuff.
I did it for a while but I'm not a morning person so I've been using the Keurig for a long time. No way I'm using the French press in the morning while getting ready for work.
I can see it being a Sunday morning thing down the road at the new house.

 

Ouch.

 

Worked with a guy that had his little French press at the office. He'd just make it at his desk. Only works if you've got an office job and hot water to use, but it's an option.

 

Blooming the grinds is just basically wetting them to release all the gas stored inside the bean. Once the gas is released and the grinds stop foaming, you add the additional water. At least that's how I do it.

Step 6: Bloom
Start the timer on your scale and pour hot water onto your ground coffee in a slow, spiral motion. Your water should be around 200°F, not boiling; this will allow the most extraction without scorching your ground coffee. You want to pour enough water that you cover the ground coffee in about an inch of water. Make sure that all of your ground coffee is evenly saturated, and allow your coffee to bloom for 30 seconds.

A Note On Blooming
Blooming coffee is an important step in manual brewing, whether you're brewing with a Hario V60, a Chemex, or a French press. While your coffee blooms, you'll notice bubbles coming up and popping across the surface of your ground coffee. This is the carbon dioxide and other gasses that are trapped during roasting being released from the coffee. By allowing your coffee to bloom prior to starting the full brew you make sure that all of the trapped gasses are released instead of ending up in your cup and causing off-flavors, and it also allows the rest of your water to more fully and evenly extract all of the delicious elements from the coffee grounds.

We used a Keurig for years. Recently bought a cheap regular coffee pot so we could have it turn on automatically and be ready in the morning. I set it for 4:50 and alarm goes off at 5. Then I started waking up at 4:30. Wife works from home and doesn't get up until 7.
I'm back to just using the Keurig and then she can do the same or turn the pot on when she gets up. Which would be stupid because she just has one cup.
I might look into one of the Keurigs with its own water supply line and install an inline filter. Maybe one that you can program to turn on at a certain time. I don't like leaving it on 24/7 just so the water is always hot and ready. Not sure if they make one with that feature.

 

We just have a pour over system. Water boiler and a bur grinder. Fresh ground coffee with minimal mess.

Some french presses are decent, but they seem to have a more gritty texture cuz the mesh doesn’t catch the small grounds. I have had a good coffee from a french press, but generally not a fan.

 

Most Keurigs are programable now they even have smart ones

At their best my mom was 5'7 and my dad was 6'0.

 

Several back surgeries later, my dad is now probably 5'10. Mom might still be close to 5'7
