What about a "protect-a-child" fence? We have one and it was a lil cheaper than that. Plus you can take it down when done with it and cap it off

I will look into that. Looks easy enough install and something that is easily removable.

For reference, this is the pool. Concrete patio on one side, retaining wall with river rock bed on the other.

Here's what we got. Only had to do half since the other half was aluminum fencing. Cost about $2500 installed for me. Just an idea

Thanks so much - this is a definite possibility. And something I think I can do myself.

501c3 is basically just IRS coding for the specific kind of non-profit/tax-exempt status of the organization. Generally, they are allowed to fund raise, sell products, etc. as long as the proceeds go back to the benefit of the organization or the 'cause' that it supports.

With that being said, the 'non-profit' should have a Board of Directors (usually at least 3 people), By-Laws, Mission/Purpose statements, etc...

Often times you may already be dealing w/the 'President' or another Board Member, but if not you may some leverage or at least a better layer of understanding by the Board, which could work in your favor. But, I fully understand about not wanting delays or taking a chance on losing the pup to another family.

Appreciate this; I will follow up tomorrow. We would even offer to sign a contract to have a barrier or acceptable cover installed in a reasonable amount of time if we could get Ike. There will be other dogs available in due time but the circumstance surrounding this one stings - after losing beans he kind of fell into our laps, family met him, went through the process and got the rug pulled out

We're working on building a house and plan to have a pool with a beach entrance (no steps, just a slope like a beach). I wonder how that will affect us. We want to foster goldens.

They are unwavering and were actually rude when I asked. The lady who interviews us was very nice and apologetic and said “I hope this doesn’t sour you on our rescue.” I got two quotes - one for $4k and one for $6k based on pictures for the pool covers. That just isn’t happening. We are going to look at other agencies and see what we can find. Thanks for everyone’s help and advice. I guess it wasn’t meant to be….

I meant about them holding him.

That's a pretty penny, but dogs are worth it IMO. PM me how much help you'd need to pull it off if they'll hold him.

That’s amazing of you and extremely generous. But we wouldn’t accept it and they won’t hold him. I am pretty turned off on them at this point. The one company said they could come out and measure this week and install in about three weeks. My wife wants to eventually get the safety cover now after reading about them. But we will save some money and see what happens after we get it installed. I am just shocked that they were acting this way - if it’s a policy then advertise it so people know exactly what the requirements are. They even have a frequently asked questions page that doesn’t mention anything about pools or covers. I understand the importance to them but it’s a bit ridiculous when a dog has been in foster for over 6 months and is being denied over that. Who knows - maybe they don’t like something else about us and are using this as the excuse. The lady who interviewed us was very supportive and impressed. I actually have a coworker who used to work with the head of the rescue (they didn’t work together at the rescue). I told her the story and she guessed the rescue right away - and wasn’t surprised one bit by the decision. The head person is apparently pretty set in her ways and a bit over the top. She offered to talk to her but said it likely wouldn’t make a bit of difference and would cause her to dig her heels in more. One of those people who can never be wrong allegedly…..

Sounds like that rescue is run for ego and from a holier than thou PITA. Sucks for the dogs that get screwed out of a loving home because somebody feels judgemental and important. Leave them a review and warn other pool owners so they don't get the rug yanked on them as well.

We've worked with a lot of rescues (designing websites) and some of them can be a little overzealous with their dogs. It's usually the little dog people though.

Suppose I'll add a few things to help my SS out.
    Shirt size large
My interior Amazon LEDs all burned out so was looking to replace with some VLEDs or similar
I work on the Tundy in my garage like most so anything tool related, wrench organizer, ratcheting closed end wrenches, nut drivers, t-handle hex keys
I hunt elk/deer, (rifle but did just get a bow to try my luck at) fish and camp
Realized this this year my hunting gloves are not as water proof like I thought (size large) nor or my pants (32/34) haha
Rifle/pistol range time when ammo isn't too crazy
    My game camera broke
Just started getting into smoking meat, hopefully I harvest a deer in a couple weeks and try my shot at jerky
I'll pretty much buy anything at Scheel's

Do not need flash lights, folding knives, doggy toys/treats

    Cheers!

Check the build link in my signature.
OK - I realize I need to get something on here. Been running and gunning the past several weeks (have been home 96 hours in three weeks) and haven't had much time to mull over holiday ideas.

I'm always up for good/snarky slaps and patches.
On shirts, size Large typically. I prefer things that don't have a lot of print or logos on them.
I am a Metallica fan... :headbang:
I still need various recovery gear - kinetic rope, soft shackles, soft shackle ring/snatch blocks, etc.
Components to build out an on-board air distribution system (sort of like the "Wifey" system) off my compressor.
A BD OnX 50" light bar for the roof rack if you really feel generous...
Subsonic 300BLK is something I still need to stock up on.
Bottom metal for a Remington 700 Long Action BDL (7mm RM)
I could use a Geissele trigger for my MPX (special trigger) and for one of my AR's (direct ship to my address from most vendors will be a challenge due to some incorrect interpretation of recent legislation)
I'd also love to get a Midwest Industries handguard for one (or both) of my MCX Virtus setups (8.25" and 10.5") - same challenge regarding direct shipping
I've significantly reduced down my alcohol intake - focused on high quality Pinot Nois and Cabernet for the most part any more.
I'm a dark chocolate snob as well (the darker the better)
A charity donation to Farm to Heart (local to my county) is always welcomed.

    Well here goes…
T-shirt size large (typically like the thicker type tees not that new thin crap)
    Hoodie size XL
Fitted hat size 7 3/4” (flat bill only)
Sports teams include San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Chargers.
Speaking of sports my son is loving little league but has quickly outgrown most his stuff so Dicks or something like that would be cool.
I have been known to enjoy a good IPA (nightly) and have been recently getting into tequila but I’m admittedly a newb there.
Love to smoke various things on the smoker.
For the tundra I’ve wanted the AVS in-channel vent shades for a bit…oh and also those new VLED H50s would be awesome!
