I recently purchased my 2020 1794 CM. I immediately noticed there was no low end out of the JBL system. I came to the forums for a solution & discovered Autoharness & James from 12 volt. I wanted to retain the factory head unit for now, and Autoharness was able to provide the wiring solution to tap into the factory JBL amp. It was also recommend to add additional amps inline instead of replacing the factory JBL amp. I used Autoharness because I had a Bazooka tube that I wanted to test with before moving forward with subs. I only used the power & ground source from the harness on the Bazooka tube. I did run a 4 gauge power source & ground when I added the JL's. I then made contact with James, and he was able to assist with a solution. I went with his ported box & the 10" JL W0 subs. I also purchased a MMATS 600.2 mono amp from MMATS out of Florida. All I can say is WOW! My system performs better than my expectations. My next move is to replace the door speakers without an amp since my subs are now carrying the low ends. I know this has been discussed in the past but wanted to share my experience. Both companies have been great to work with and highly recommended.

What you've done is along the lines of what I want to do in my '21 CM. Keep stock non-jbl HU, add sub behind seats and upgrade door speakers (I am thinking about upgrading the passenger seat amp to a 5-channel to serve door speakers and sub in the back). Anyone know if it would be better to upgrade current sub under the passenger seat to 5ch or leave that one and just add a new sub amp when I install that sub like OP?
Is that the best way to get good sound without head unit upgrade? I do not want to spend the money on one and absolutely do not want to fool with all that wiring if I'll get 70-80% as good without HU upgrade. Reviews on it are mixed on leaving HU here from what I can tell.
Likely will opt for JL C1 in doors all the way around and will see what the deals are for subs. I'm going to purchase the Skar box and fit whatever subs into it. Any recommendations further there would be appreciated.

My only concern with the Skar box, at least the ported one, is listed with a tune frequency of about 48hz. IMO, that’s really high for our trucks.

I would contact James about for the speaker box. I also believe it is easier to integrate with Non-JBL system than the JBL system. I was going to get the 5 channel amp, but decided to use a mono amp for the meantime. I just need to confirm if the front & rear door tweeters are integrated with the door speakers like a component set up. I also read that switching to an aftermarket head unit delivers the best return because you can tune the system.

I heard back from James at Tech12Volts. His ported box for a pair of 10s is tuned to 34hz. I’d take that any day over a 48hz tuned enclosure. Should be substantially more efficient in a CM Tundra.

Subs matched to the box would be more efficient than any sub that "fits". I had a custom box that i bought from a local guy on CL and he said it was built originally for Hertz subs. When I went to my stereo guy, he said the Alpine Type R's would be fine. I ran that setup for years and it sounded okay. I recently switched it out with the JL Stealthbox with 10's and a 1200 watt amp. Night and day difference.

The box is tuned to the JL’s he offers on his site. I did also install the Audiocontrol LC2I Pro to help with the bass roll off.

Correct. I was just posting to desrons comment on getting the Skar box and whatever subs fit unless he was referring to Skar subs that are matched to it. Skar Audio manufacturing is local to me but I have never listened to any of their subs. I am a huge fan of JL and have been using their stuff since the early 90s.

I just discovered MMATS out of Florida. They do a bunch of in house manufacturing & offer subs/ speakers as well. Enjoying their amp now & plan to get some of their speakers if they will fit the doors.
