Any 2023 owners received their second key fob?

Any Dealer. Doesn't have to be the one you bought the truck from.

Just received mine today. Seven months to the day of purchase...

 

Bought Tundra 2023 in February here we are in November and still telling me in a month or two. Also the only key fob we have doesn’t work when it’s cold out and the truck won’t start without it.

 

I got a letter in the mail a month ago, made an appointment with dealer for yesterday, got my fob.

ETA - just over 11 months.

 

Got my keyfob today. Purchased truck in February. They also installed the new and new improved seat panel. To replace the cracked one.

 

I asked the dealer I went to yesterday for the joke of TSB resolutions; and they said Toyota hasn't released them yet... I tell you, the level of service and BS you get there and hand-holding is unreal. It legit was a mental test to deal with them after the usual "nothing was found", things are good, service tech left his personal key in my cupholder after I had left, and they updated or reset something when connected to the truck, the display asked then for a PIN or to RESET PIN, and the service manager then claimed "not sure, you'd know better than me since you do IT". Priceless. I got better service on a 10yr old Lexus. Won't do it again.

 

Data point here, '23 Sequoia purchased in feb 23. Got the notification mid Oct in the toyota app, scheduled an appointment and got the 2nd fob a couple of days later.

 

Just picked up my second key fob today. It works, but there is not cut key included with my smart fob. It should be there, ya? The crappy part is, without that key blank, there's no place to attach a key ring

 

When you purchased the vehicle, they shouldve given you a key fob WITH a physical key in it AND a physical key separate

 

My same experience +1, the service people are absolutely lost and have no idea what is coming or going, let alone what happens to the truck when they connect to the diagnostics. Pretty sure they're winging it 100%, and can't think critically past the average PC user in what the message on the screen says, goes. Great help and service fellas. I actually got a review email this morning from my fiasco on Wednesday, can't wait to fill that out.

 

I believe that popup is temporary and should clear on its own...at least that is what I think I read in an earlier post. Just received my FOB and am seeing the same message.

 

It will flash this message for 10 days. Likely a security feature in the event it was not you who added the new fob. Please share the name of your dealer - they deserve to be shamed.

 

Sure didn't!!! And how was I supposed to know otherwise, was my complaint to brand engagement. The campaign said a second key would be provided at a later date. I assumed it was a complete key.

 

My second physical key was in the folio with the manuals.

 

Got my key fob today. Bought the truck on 03/31/23

 

If there's anyone in the KC area waiting on one, they have some at Hendricks Toyota in Shawnee.

Bought my ‘23 Tundra in February of 2023, I am at the dealership NOW (Friday, Nov. 10) for 10k service and they say my 2nd key is here. I was happy to see (which I hadn’t before) that it was listed as an item for delivery to me on “their” required service alongside of the two outstanding recalls (tonneau cover N/A, and fuel issue there isn’t a fix for yet). Brought 2nd key while checking out/signing off. I had forgotten the key was given to me when I got the truck, just no remote.

For those counting…about 10 months!!!

 

I know its an odd question considering 23 owners are still waiting in some cases. But I figured it didn't hurt to ask what '24 owners got one at the dealer or since purchase.

I bought my truck 2 months ago and according to the deliver chart others have shared, I should be getting mind in the next month or 2.

 

Not when I picked my fresh off the truck, truck on 10/21.

 

Drove off the lot 10/9 and nope

 

I was told due to chip shortages I would have to request one and then go to a dealership to have it programmed.

 

picked mine up 10/26, told 2nd maybe 3rd quarter 2024 and to check the app if it’s ready

 

I picked up my truck 11/2022 just got my 2nd fob 11/1/2023 wjen i was in for service

I picked mine up Oct 1, 2022.

Mine came with 2 fobs so it is possible to get both at delivery

This whole situation seems fishy, what if the dealers said, you could only have 3 tires and the fourth is coming in 9 months??

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if it's just Toyota with the key fob shortage. Is it all Toyota models? Also, since Lexus is Toyota, are they having the same issue? I find it hard to believe that Toyota is still using the "chip shortage" defense. I had no problem with my wife's 2023 RDX, got both keys. Guy at work bought a 2023 Chevy, has both his keys. Out of curiosity, what would happen if someone lost their only key fob. Can't drive it? Lawn ornament. Toyota going to make the payments on the truck?
