Imagine a helicopter is facing due east. Suddenly a tornado jumps up out of nowhere and throws a cow at the helo, causing it to rotate 180°. Now facing due west. Can the helo still take off vertically? What are the pilots having for dinner?

Bad analogy. If a helicopter spins its rotors clockwise to lift, if you flip the heli upside down, you have a lawn mower.

Reverse. If you rotate the clockwise motion over the tire in a 180° arc, it starts rotating CCW.

I think it still works, only now you have 1 forward gear and 4 reverse gears. So really you need to flip the transmission around too to compensate. Solved.

What if you try to fly it in Australia? Have to reverse the rotation to counteract the southern hemisphere gravitational differences.

Stoked... except for the smoke. I'd have to pass. You'll never get it out.

That said, if you do... even on super hot summer days... I'll be excited to know how you do it.

Scored me a Kirby Sentia? (GD10) vacuum for $8 and the carpet shampoo attachment for $10! at Savers.

Normally this sucker went for $900 back in 2007/2008 and the thing turns on!

Just some TLC to get it cleaned up. Probably the best shampooing vac out there. Had a demo years ago when it was new and it doesn’t soak your carpet.

Years ago (pre-Internet) I applied for a job in the want ads. I called them up and the guy said "it's an industrial sales position with the Scott and Fetzer Company). I threw on a suit and rolled up to the address for the interview...and it's a store front. "Kirby" it said in the window <sigh>. Well, I'm already here (I thought parenthetically), I may as well go in.

They demonstrated the Kirby Deluxe vacuum. It would do everything from vacuum your rug to polish your car! They showed me some motivational movies starring Chuck Connors. And they gave me a test...

When I got home the phone was ringing. I answered and they said "You got the highest score we've ever recorded! You're hired".

    "Umm...nah" I said, "no thanks".

I believe he said flipping the axle so the driver wheel was on the passenger side, i.e. I think that's rotating the Z axis. But hell, I'm a walking ball of comprehension failure these last few months, so who the hell knows, I'm probably full of shit.

The helo, as I described, would be changing its orientation on Z axis rotation also, so ... same-same, I think?

But the real questions here that would help us answer this debacle...
    • Have you ever been in a cockpit before?
    • You ever seen a grown main naked?
    • Did you ever hang around a gymnasium?
    • Do you like movies about gladiators?
    • Have you ever been in a Turkish prison?
