I ordered the Beat-Sonic amp and it's coming in this Saturday. I'm interested to hear the improvement. Where did you set your gain on the amp?

 

I think I just turned it up until I got audio, then I went to my typical volume level and played a few different songs while playing with the gain. I left it where I felt it liked the sound...between 1/2 and 3/4 up. You're going to have to either use a DD-1 or tune by ear.

 

Can you not use the rca jacks to put in a gain knob that way you can control it without taking it all apart?

 

RCA's are inputs, not gain control

 

Has anyone looked into any other options than the beat sonic?

 

what else is available for these trucks?

 

I just got an email back from them. They suggested routing it to the glove box so you can control the gain.

No clue that's why I was asking lol. Was thinking that maybe someone who understood what it actually is better than me had alternative options.

 

Had the 3" Readylift installed yesterday and paired it with BFG KO2's (285/65R20's). I have AVS/Air Bags, so bought the appropriate kit from RL and it looks awesome! I've driven it about 25 miles so far and its drives awesome. It actually feels like it drives smoother than stock! If you have AVS/Air Bags, I'm highly recommending at this point! I'll report back if I find any problems.

As a bonus, I found out that I had a TRD skid plate already installed. I've had the truck for a month and never even looked cuz I assumed it was a stock skid plate! The RL kit drops the front differential about 2", so I need to buy some longer bolts and steel spacers to mount the skid plate, but it was a nice surprise!

 

So afe released their hybrid blue scorcher finally. Questions for the people out there that know more about these things.

AFE claims 110hp gain on 91 octane with an extra 5psi boost.

JB4 claims 60-70 HP on 93 octane at 5psi extra (that is map 3 FYI).

How would afe get an 80% gain with lower octane fuel and the same extra boost?

I'm thinking about buying the afe just to try it out against my JB4 then selling whichever one I don't like.

Took a picture of it from the proper angle to show off the new 275/65R20 tires. Painted grill surround shows up next week so hopefully I’ll have that and the heritage grill installed in the next week or two.

Stock radio, not the 14in screen

 

I do not. Just stock height Platinum (non-air suspension) and the only modifications so far are black mirror caps and the tires.

You are going to like the little amp. Makes a big difference in the overall sound quality.

 

Yeah definitely wanna know how the install and sound quality is.

 

The install is fairly straightforward. Make sure you put the large plug in the spot next to the sneaker output. It's the grey connector, don’t connect to where the white connector is. I had an issue a plugged it into the wrong spot and it did not work. Worked with beat sonic and corrected the connection.
Immediately after connecting to the right spot, it powered up.

The sound is so much better than without the amp. The system overall is much louder. The highs are much clearer and the lows or mid bass are punchier. I set the gain to 3/4 and have no distortion even at max volume. I have several friends with tundras that have ordered the amp after hearing the improvement on mine.

Replaced my front fog light trim panel and recently I changed out the rear bumper caps to TRD Pro camo. I will be changing out the grille soon once I get my diode dynamics light bar
