Transmission shop said I needed a $5000 rebuild. It was a shady place so I did some work myself to no success. I replaced the entire valve body and all shift solenoids and sensors and wheel hub speed sensors. Won’t shift up in tow mode or manual shift. Thinking wiring harness next? Idk.

You sure it’s the transmission and not that you are in limp mode??

No. Not sure. It will run great and shift fine until it gets to 4th. It’s gone into limp mode a few times after spinning the wheels. I’d reset it at the battery and it would run fine (aside from shifting)

Can you manually shift past 4th? Valve body solenoids can get gunked up. You can check each solenoids resistance.

Any update @Moondigity? I’m experiencing the same issue with my 2008 sequoia

Unfortunately, after giving in and rebuilding the transmission myself (just clutch plates and seals) it worked great for a little bit then started throwing solenoid “D” code again and doing it again. It will shift if I run higher rpms in the lower gears. The only thing I haven’t replaced is the internal wiring harness. Kinda wondering if it’s a short somewhere. Considering doing that next.
