That copper/brass pipe rode to the gas station on the back bumper of several trucks & always made it home.

My sister was sober and driving; my cousin and friend and I with a keg in the back of my ranger, pretty sure it was tapped, but got pulled over because maybe me? Put a coke can on the bumper that covered the license plate. It was planted for 10 miles before we got pulled over. He sent us on our way

I welded a pipe wrench to a buddies hitch ball nut (only kinda helpful as a closed tailgate step). If i add one to mine its gonna be angled further from the bumper.

Happened in the wilds of Idaho... Twas 12 plus miles off the pavement on an offroad, high clearance vehicle only road... What an adventure. I have only good things to say about the folks I have met in Idaho. Very refreshing.

And the question everyone wants to know, OEM or aftermarket joints?
EDIT: That sucks, it doesnt look like it was too bad on the fender/body.

Home safely after one hell of a winter storm by a southern's view.. Drove through Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and half of South Dakota in 4 wheel hi... Can't shift in above 57 mph... but will run faster...

No knowledge of the lower one I broke off. I had little choice for the repair, but thankfully the local NAPA was the source.

@BroHon there was no body damage. I was running less than 10 mph on dirt when it snapped. I did however take out the lower and upper ball joints, axle, tie rod end, brake line and ABS wire. Instructions to Les Schwab in St Maries was to inspect and replace any issues as I had to return home. Repair included upper ball and tie rod end on passenger side.

Ooof, can't bring myself to thumb that up. Be careful with Les Schwab, they're a bunch of f'n hacks. Have someone check your alignment when you get back.

I've noticed that the failures are all at lower speeds, if i'm hauling ass, i'm probably safe.

If you were planning on driving home prior to it failing, you should be very thankful it happened like it did! Buy a lotto ticket regardless

I hear ya.. I have over 3K miles on it now and the alignment seems good. I spent over 13 hours straight driving on interstate ice... no wander or pull... just enough slip n slide to keep up a pucker and make your hands cramp form the steering wheel grip..

It happened on the first day in camp. Had a family emergency and was trying to drive the 6 miles to get to cellular service. Was thankful that it did not occur in a more eventful manner. Was expensive from the viewpoint of someone that turns his own wrenches... but we stayed in camp and enjoyed our trip non the less.. I might win the loto one day... Ifna I played. Found that the quickest way to double my money was to fold it in half and stick it back into my pocket..

The steelies were bought for the tires. I have a set of mud grips mounted that are more mud gripes... wife and daughter complained that they could not have a normal conversation on the interstate when running themmmmm.... The DC gots good whoas when they are working properly. That said, when one has master cylinder problems, ya might be asking @des2mtn for tech help..

just as long as it's understood that I've got dibs if the marbles hit the floor. If I drop dead before then, I nominate @txagg as the runnerup buyer. Okay good. thx
    :hattip:
$100 is high for a tank of gas? Dammit. I don't know how long it's been since I could get change back from throwin a hundo in the tank, couple years at least. With the recent drop in prices, it now takes $140'ish, and that's pumpin 87 grade. I just got excited a couple days ago to see it under $5/gal.

Fuckin A man. $100 will get you a full tank and an 18 pack of ultras here. Maybe even a 30 of coors light. I'm pretty sure we dropped back into the high $2 range. I never pay attention since I don't pay for it.
