When I originally got my sport I thought meh, I don’t need that crap! Then I went on a 3 hour road trip in my buddy’s limited and totally changed my mind. I love the outside of the sport better but driving it means more than looking at it to me.

I really wish Toyota would let you build your truck more like the domestic manufacturers. Sr5 off road to limited off road runs almost $10,000 here in Canada. Ya some of those features would be nice but not $10,000 nice. Leather seats, $1000 option, 360 camera maybe $1000, you get the point, pick and choose what matters to you. Save the chrome however..

Picked up a very basic SR5 a few weeks ago. Have only driven it twice so far but added/changed a few things. Rims/Tires will come in the spring, and will likely tint the front side windows. I'm sure there will be more as I get inspiration from all you guys' awesome rigs.

I completely agree with you. It really sucks that we are not offered the same options as the USA. I am sure many Canadians would pay for the extra options if given the opportunity. I know I would. 2nd class citizens I guess in the eyes if Toyota. I really hope someone from Toyota Corp reads this thread and wakes up but maybe I am just dreaming.

Traded in my 2020 Tacoma TRD Off Road in an effort to have a more comfortable and powerful tow rig. Only wish is that voodoo blue existed still, but I won’t mind flying a little more low key.

It really is an amazing truck, especially with the hybrid. I got about 12 mpg towing with the Tacoma, so I'm curious to see what I can eek out of this since the Tacoma would be wrung out to 3500+ RPM to maintain speed. Luckily our little trailer is more aerodynamic than most.

I loved the Tacoma, but at 6' 1" and throwing some extraneous camping gear for our trips and wanting to fit a crash tested dog kennel in the rear seat, always was envious of the full size trucks.

Is that an Escape 21? How do you like it, and how is it for sleeping? My wife and I are looking at trailers like this, but she's a very light sleeper so it's a big factor for us.

    Nice truck as well!

It's actually an Escape 19. It's perfect for us as we spend most of our time outside when we're camping, but it's just big enough to seek refuge and hang out inside if the weather turns sideways.

It's got a proper queen size bed (not a short queen like some similarly sized trailers; I would touch both walls in our previous trailer when I was laying down, so this was a big deal to me) and a dinette that converts into basically a full sized bed. It's just us two and the dog, so we definitely don't need more room. Good sized wet bath, which was also important as I had trouble fitting comfortably in our last trailer's wet bath.

It's only 8 feet tall if you don't include the air conditioner height and 7 feet wide, so it tucks behind the tow vehicle WAY better than most, which really does make a difference in gas mileage while towing. Dual axle makes it insanely stable when towing for such a short length, especially compared to our similarly sized NoBo that was only single axle.

At 6' 1", I wouldn't want the ceiling any lower. I fit fine but my hair touches the air conditioner cover inside.

I always tell people that Escape is like the "Toyota of Travel Trailers". Reliable and well built, slightly more expensive than the garbage that gets pumped out of Indiana, but not as expensive as the top tier luxury stuff, and retains their value extremely well.

We absolutely love it and always recommend them to anyone that's considering getting their toes wet.

We have friends that have two kids and they had no thoughts at all about having a travel trailer until they went camping with us and saw the Escape. They went home and ordered an Escape 21 and it suits their family really well as it's slightly wider and obviously longer, so can handle their family of four and two dogs.

The only trailer I would consider trading it for is the Escape 5.0 because the layout is awesome. But that's just me ogling the amenities of a nicer option...

My apologies to the OP for going off-track. @ArcticEd, I agree with @brtnstrns. Escape makes a quality fibreglass trailer that we strongly considered when looking at different manufacturers. I recommend you also consider the Bigfoot travel trailer in your shopping adventure as they're another quality builder of fibreglass trailers located in British Columbia. My recommendation may be slightly biased as we purchased a 2023 Bigfoot 25B25FB travel trailer that we're very happy with!

Bigfoots are awesome and I really wanted to check one out. But at the time we only had the Tacoma and the smallest Bigfoots top the scales a bit more. If we were looking now while owning a full size, I'd definitely go check them out.

One more Escape tangent: here is our 24 Tundra SR5 hitched to our Escape 21C. It's pretty light (3600 lbs dry), definitely well built, and the layout is perfect for our needs. Seems perfectly matched to to capbilities of the truck. I get about 13.5 mpg towing (in the mountains). PS: Bigfoots also look sweet, as do the Escape 5.0 (and 19).

Even with the nightshade trim, they still manage to get some chrome on the truck with center caps!

A black sharpie should help cover that up ;)
