I did a check on my VIN on the Toyota website and it doesn't appear that the ball joints were replaced on it under the recall. Is the recall still in effect for a 2005? Looking at the list from NHTSA, it appears that mine falls within the range of VINs that were affected.

Safety recalls never expire. They should pay for it at the dealership. Lucky you. Don't break the old ones on the way there

Well, apparently, I missed the information on the Toyota website. I went to my local dealership to see about getting the ball joints done and came to find out that they were already replaced on 01/24/2008 at 19,520 miles under the recall. The person at the service desk looked it up in their computer. When I got back home, I looked again and there was a service entry on that day that stated "Reset all tire pressures to 32 PSI, SSC 70B" I didn't realize that SSC 70B was the ball joint recall. Oh well. Guess I'll be swapping them out soon since I'm at 174,000 miles.

SSC = Special Service Campaign (i.e. Recall).

Yeah, I looked it up after I saw that. I guess I just glossed over it when I saw that the tire pressures being reset was the main (1st mentioned) service on that date. I guess I'll go and get some TRQ, Detroit Axle or A1 Auto balls joints to slap in there.
