Not on the liver growth. That turned out to be a comment from a past cat-scan taken in 2017. Somehow it got commented on in this recent MRI. Other than that it’s just adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder) and bursitis. The bursitis is what’s really bothering me and going to take some time for the swelling to come down, but the PT and not sleeping on my right side is helping a lot. Unfortunately I can’t go without using my right arm so any time I perform a twisting motion with it, it aggravates the bursitis which just prolongs its healing.

I should’ve gone with his recommendation today to just wait till Monday and go back, that way this BS going back and forth with the company nurse could get resolved over a few days.

 

Wife had frozen shoulder on one side, then the other... that's horrible. They had to put her down to manipulate (RIP) it free on the first one. She is tough as nails and got basically 100% ROM back on both, shocked the PT.

I got lucky in that respect since I saw the doctor right away. I was still in the first stage where it just hurt like hell to move it. The 2nd stage is where it physically gets stuck and they have to wrestle it free like what your wife had.

Learned about that from the physical therapist. I’m not sure what the third stage is but I don’t want to find out.

 

Yeah that would be bad... wife has autoimmune/lupus/fibro issues, and would prob be dead right now had she not done something different, she was going down fast. Essentially Stopped it all with drastic diet change.
Long story, but an eye opener for me because I/and the Dr.s still cant believe her health now.

 

Ooof. Well, I mean, at least some good news. But still .... Ugh.

Doctors don't expect patients to have determination, to be above-average humans. Most people would give up and fade fast in that situation.

That same determination is what a small percentage of paralysis patients show (close friend is chaplain at a major spinal injury facility), told they'll never walk again, function again normally. Then within 12 months or less they're taking steps.

It's amazing what can happen if you refuse to accept, and put your mind to things. "Mind over matter". It's what separates victims from survivors, for real.

 

Wow, glad to hear! What did she have to cut out of her diet to get better if you don’t mind my asking? Seems incredible that a diet change could turn a lot of that around.

Most people would rather take loads of pills and "procedures" to continue living the lifestyle they do. I'll even admit I'd have trouble doing what she did.
But she wanted to scream it from the mountain tops, that there's a way out! But no one wants to hear the hard truth, or change their ways.

This is all workers' comp rules. To return to work after any injury-related absence, the employee must get a note from the treating physician that says either full duty, or else describes specific modifications required (modified/ limited duty). If no restrictions, HR will have nothing to say about it. If modified duty of any type is recommended by the doctor, HR and your entire work chain-of-command get to weigh in on whether they'll accommodate. If they can and they need you, they'll find a way. Otherwise, they don't have to let you back to work until you are ready to work at full duty.

I'm in California so I held off weighing in, but the general "workers' comp" rules are pretty much the same across states.

 

What kind of diet changes help with something like this? Was her injury related to inflammation, or weight gain, or-?

 

Yeah, but the real question is do I go unpaid from disability or paid family medical leave until this thing gets resolved? I’m so kicking myself in not going with the doc’s original recommendation that I return Monday and wanted to get back and catch up on my work.

 

Yeah, I'm sorry. I'm working through workers' comp treatment now, of a repetitive motion injury sustained in May, 2022. It's difficult to navigate, and no one steps up to advocate or even tell you the ins and outs of the process. Sucks.

 

I've been on the other side of this with a former employer. We had an employee that was clearly lying about being injured. We think he was some sort of career con man with workers comp. We ended up having to pay a P.I. to follow him around town.

We kept him on light duty which involved some cleaning and doing useless paperwork. He eventually disappeared.

 

I'm trying to find a replacement Interstate 27F battery but they are hard to track down.

Advance has a Diehard Silver for $194. Anyone got a better suggestion. I don't want an AGM battery.

Case manager called me stating since it’s in my employer hands for acceptance, I’ll be paid via disability until they agree on a new return to work day with clarified work accommodations.

So thankfully, now I don’t have to worry.

 

I've had 2 of the DH Silvers in different vehicles. No complaints.

 

I always go with Toyota OEM replacement. It always dies within the 7 year prorated warranty and I usually get a $20-30 credit towards a new battery which brings it around $110 or so for a new one.

 

I didn't expect Toyota to get recommended. The one that came in the RAV4 barely made it 2 years and the replacement they gave me lasted around 3. Florida heat didn't help.

That’s interesting. Mine has lasted 4-5 years on average but I only put on around 8-10k miles per year and do 2-3 trips per day on average.

 

Panasonic (Toyota) lasted 7 years. The nEverStart I replaced it with made it 11 months. I will go back OEM once this thing is out of its warranty period.

 

I gotta say, I got a NAPA Gold or NAPA Ultimate or whatever, out of desperation when my alternator shit itself on the way to work. It's been going strong for 3-4 years now. It has yet to let me down. I'm not impressed, but also not disappointed.

 

Toyota does have a lifetime battery. But after 2 years you have to put in a claim. Details at the link below.

Well, it's good there's a case manager calling you-- means it's been accepted as a work injury.

The challenge now will be getting care from a provider that's the same quality you'd get through your own health insurance, and trying to avoid lengthy breaks in treatment. My experience has been, only 6 appointments authorized at a time, with several weeks delay in getting subsequent authorizations through the various entities... then having to wait for available appointments at your treatment provider, that won't allow you to book until they get the authorization.

I've figured out that my designated workers' comp administrator (I *think* this is a resource on my employer's side) can send an advance copy of the approval for next round of treatment... based on WC doc's orders but still working through the state's workers' comp manager... straight to my treatment provider. Then my treatment provider lets me book appointments. This saved me a 20 days delay in a second round of treatment.
