I’d rather have had student loans paid off instead of the upcoming bad debt bank wrote offs

For sure, student loans are non-bankrupt-able. Can't just throw the bank your diploma and walk away.

EVs vehicles are not for everyone especially me,the problem that I have is that politicians are pushing them on us . I don't want one and period they are dangerous, boring and very very ugly to look at too expensive,a pain to charge them a pain to find a charging station when you go on a short trip like 400 miles, and two things that will come to light very very soon.
When they start charging you for every mile you drive cause they don't pay road tax and when the batterys have to be replaced. If you have a EV that's give years old, who. Sound buy it? Not me , that battery is getting old and to replace it is 1/2 the cost of the vehicle and if your stupid enough to have a lightning it could cost $38000.00
You know what. Good god you and not for me
When Trump gets in office in 2024, drill baby drill.
I expect they are fun to drive cause I did drive electric equipment and they are fun but not as your only transportation.
As for the tundra? I love it , the gas mileage c ould be better but I have a V8 and hp. I knew that when I bought it and I'm fine with it. It's a great truck. Dependable, powerful and a lot of towing weight, perfect for me. Don't get mad at me I just hate EVs that people say they are coming. Not fir everyone

Yup these new labor contracts plus pressure to sell an unprofitable vehicle platform plus this debt bubble mean a new collapse is most certainly coming.

First thing they'll all say when they get in line for bailouts is doing what the government asked them to do broke their balance sheets so the government needs to clean it up.

Shit my 2014 F150 was only $43k or something and my payment was still like $720 at 1.9% interest. 60-80k at 6-7% would be $1500+ I imagine.

Yeah I was going to reply this. Even a crv with 20% down at 4% is like 750-800 .

Unless cash car payments are high. It’s just price increases , and rate hikes. Now buying with cash was the move. My 22 TRD pro was 1.29% Apr

Yeah you're probably right. I haven't taken a loan out on anything but a house in almost ten years so I don't know. Even the house I put down 50%.

I guess I'm just saying, when people are making these huge payments on a car/truck/boat that is suddenly worth far less than their loan amount, I expect we will see some defaulting and turn-ins.

If rates are low enough I finance everything I can. I even cashed out on my house almost $200k at 2.625% and now I'm making enough in interest off that that it's nearly covering the whole mortgage. My lender really wants me to refi

lol, yup, anyone that had a brain and a balance refi when the rates were 2-3%, damn near free money from a historical mortgage perspective.

I laugh when I get refi offers and home equity loan offers, lol, ya right.

My wife normally can't get motivated to do anything complicated with a sense of urgency besides book vacations. I am "the guy who deals with stuff."

A year or two ago she was in a bad mood about her job and decided she doesn't want to work 2 seconds past when she is eligible to retire, and was going to plan as much as she could accordingly. Did the research and paperwork by herself and Refied us in the 3s and with extra payments has us on track for payoff in under 10 years which is in our 50s.

I told her she was caught red handed. Turns out She can wade into paperwork, get her hands dirty, deal with people and get something done after all when she has the proper motivation. And now that I saw it happen I wouldn't forget it.

Pandemic financing, aka - Free Money - was an anomoly. It will never happen again in our life times.
Alot of feee money and everything went up.
What goes up always comes down. They (FED) think they are in control.
The higher up it goes the more it has to fall. In the US and Canada.
People have been living off this free money and the money they saved when they were locked up.
    That money is running out.

I drive a V8 Pickup and I invest in Oil Producing Companies in Canada.
What an Oxymoron. One wants low Oil Prices the other high !
Only in Canada. eh. Its one thing when our new pipelines get vetoed and nixed when new American politicians take office.
Its another thing when a badly needed pipeline expansion gets delayed because internal BC groups say not enough fencing has been put up to adequately protect frogs. and fwiw I love Frogs.

I don't know man, you really think people are still living and using what a couple grand from 2020?

I really don't think thats the case, I think its just getting back to the way some people are with spending what they don't have.

That has been around before covid and will be around after, finance what I can't afford isn't unique or continuing due to the pandemic.

There is this abolish the fed movement I used to think was a bunch of fringe crazies
Pushing wackiness. But I am coming to see the merits of money flowing at supply and demand driven market based rates without a small platoon of central planners engineering bubbles and then letting the air out when and how they see fit with so little accountability.

I am talking about the people that took $500k mortgages in the US and $1 million dollar mortgages in BC and Ontario Canada during the Pandemic... and used the money for .........whatever. Hell I took some free money too. The bank that charges me 1.6% on the mortgage money is paying me 5.0% to keep it in high interest accts, while I wait for something to happen.
Its taking a while eh...lol. Patience needed.

your lithium ion drill batteries are more likely to explode than your ev

shocking, but probably true. I could have paid cash for my 22, but financing at 2.9% or whatever it was so much smarter, invested half of what i saved and made it back multiple times.. spent the rest on mods

this... free money if you dont overleverage yourself across the board. We have a mortgage at 2.2 and a truck payment at 2.9%.... that's it.

For sure the math works out to finance when interest rates work. I still pay cash, but I understand why people do it.

This is why I pay cash. When you are actually writing a check for $XXXX.XX and will see that extra money leave your account, you weigh options differently than if it's only an extra $88 dollars a month. You're more likely to overspend when you finance.
