Test fit the bike in the bed today. There is a ton of room there. These trucks are the perfect size.

I dont have the ground clearance with the buell. Even with an 8' ramp, i need to pull the front up on a curb.

Also waxed what is left of the paint before winter hits. It was a brisk 42 degrees out there.

Today I topped off fluids, changed out an old to do list item… the hose from PVC to throttle body89FCB4AD-6B84-44D0-B0E2-77BF1C6BF117.jpgClean air filterB126433A-45BF-4992-8C61-AC72C3240142.jpgAnd now I’m about to do something I’ve been dreading a long time, try to fill the axel boot with grease and put on new straps. Been slinging grease for a while now, could be empty at this point.

    Any tips appreciated

Huh, I remember this being much harder. 6AE3A30B-2912-441B-92EB-47ACF544C1EE.jpg

i really thought I had a good pinch on the strap this time. Slinging grease worse than ever. Awesome77A75C1A-1BC7-4528-AAC9-24662873B799.jpg

After last week's snowstorm that dropped 14" here, it was time to change over from the summer Michelins to the Nokian Hakkapeliitta studded tires. Love the Nokian tires for driving the icy canyon roads in NW Boulder County. I carry four wheel chains but haven't had to use them since running these tires.

I have had luck with hose clamps, this was just a temporary one (even though it’s been there for 6-8 months) until I order a new one that is a little narrower, probably go with Norma.

Gimme a shout when you're ready. I've got 4 spare pairs. Happy to ship a pair your way for the inner clamps (70-90mm).

I haven't installed mine yet. Mostly because I cleaned my sling from lifting about a week ago, and I haven't seen a single drop in the last 100 miles of driving.

And as for adding more grease.... maybe do the same thing used in cooking.

Cut the corner of the OEM grease pack, so it's got about 3/4" mouth.

Insert the open-end inside the boot, then gently clamp the bag lightly inside the boot.

Pull the bag out (this is why you clamp lightly, so bag will slide out).

    See cooking-world example:

Did something similar. Cut a corner then squeezed. It’s the pinch that gets me but hopefully this will have done it. E6BC1208-AC38-41A2-8C15-3005B7AB543C.jpgthink I got it tighter with the ball joint press. Will test it shortly

You know those squares on the oetiker clamp tool are there for a reason, right? Those are for a 1/2" breaker bar, for leverage. Not a breaker bar in this pic, but you get the ideal. Gonna give more leverage more-easily than a BJ press.

Cool. Had to ask, sorry :D

That's crazy they're so tough. Is Toyota using something special? I remember that one dude on here who had a shop, I think in the PACNW, who after lifting, couldn't get the inner boots to stop slinging, and they reclamped a couple of times. At that point I'd have given up and gone worm-drive.

Always appreciate your input bud and yeah Toyota’s seem to be harder to pinch tight.

Nokian's tires are a work of art and a marvel of engineering. We don't get as much snow as you do here in Northern Illinois/Wisconsin but I was astounded by the amount of grip offered by the set of Nokian One's that I put on my mom's car. I can't recommend Nokian enough.

Maybe because our winters aren't as harsh, but I don't know why Nokian isn't more popular than it is. Highly considering a set of their allseasons for when I get new tires this spring.

Can someone tell me if one of my dash lights are out?

Turning the key to the 2nd position lights up these lights…did I reverse the polarity on the gas and check engine lights which are amber?

Just an FYI here. The second position is called the "accessory mode" or ACC position.
