Ok so we have a 22' dual axle equipment trailer for moving our tractor. I hooked up to it this morning and the brakes worked, I was able to test them with the controller, whole deal.

Then I saw a cable and messed with it and a plastic piece broke and now the truck gives me errors about trailer wiring fault.

Enclosed are the pictures of what remains of the plastic piece, the rest was broken in small pieces.

The metal bracket below it was bent over and there was another plastic piece that shattered into many pieces. Now with those two electrical connections like they are it is giving me the trailer wiring error. One cable goes into the box, the other cable goes further back on the trailer.

I would greatly appreciate any help you guys can give. From what i can tell it appears to be part of the break away controller? But It's never been used. The other end of the wire that holds that black plastic pin is attached to the trailer near the jack.

I don't even know what I need to buy to replace it.

    Thanks

Does appear to be the emergency breakaway brake controller. Those two wires exposed with the metal clips on them touch and activate the electric brakes on the trailer. Shouldn't matter which way its wired. I replaced one on my TT years ago.

ok cool so I can get that switch and cut out the old clips and wire the switch in and it should be fine? Apparently I've never used the brake away correctly. Thanks

That's the little extra safety clip on a thin steel cable that gets hooked up in case the trailer falls off the truck hitch. It activates full braking for emergency stops when pulled.
