Yeah, that's not unusual. Filled up the other day and drove to and from Fredericksburg, VA. Until I hit city traffic, I was easily getting 18.8MPG or so, driving 65-70MPH.

I'm on a 4/2 lift with 295/70's and I average 13.5 to 14. It's not even worth looking at or tracking it because you have to put gas in it anyway. The killer is the price of gas itself.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    right on.

    I drive fairly consistently.

    my MPG varies very little.

the only variable is the price!

3/2 here on 295/55/20's and AVG 14.5 combined in DFW. I average 16+ in Northern MN.

Bunch of variables. Having a bed cap helps greatly. Biggest variable is price of gas. Cheap and I put the hammer down, expensive and it is grandpa driving time.

I can get 19 hwy with my 2019 if I keep it at 65. I got 13 pulling a 6,000 lb trailer doing 65. I thought that was pretty good.

I was on a rural 2 lane for about 2 miles @50 mph (around 1200 rpm in 6th) going eeeeever so slightly down hill the whole way.
It was hovering at 28-29 mpg and as I grabbed the phone to snap a pic, it hit 30.
All kidding aside, that wasn't with taking my foot off the gas. That was with maintaining speed.
I can get 17 overall average if I put in the effort. 2wd DCLB with stock tires and no add-ons. But I don't make an effort so I'm in the 15s.

    What

    My 2019 4.6L SR5 Plus 4x4 got 19mpg on the highway
My 2017 5.7L SR5 Plus 4x4 with 20" Platinum wheels gets 17.7mpg on the highway

I was thinking about buying a new 2024 Tundra thinking the mileage is better but I think I'll keep the 2017, its only got 40,000miles.

Mine is actually pretty spot. I've calculated myself and it matches up. Its when you start changing wheel/tire size that it gets thrown off.

For the the price of a new Tundra, say $60,000 you can buy decade or 2 of gas for your old Tundra.

Honestly is not good. I traded my silverado in because of how they treated me and lifter failures. But I have got 20mpg in my 2WD double cab 2021 tundra at best. But I have been able to get 27mpg in 4x4 v8 crewcab 2021 silverado. Or put it this way I get over 25% fewer mpg. So over 200,000 the Tundra will cost 13,000 more in fuel costs than competitors. I wouldnt call that good honesty it the worse thing about the Tundra.Screenshot_20231031_092927_Chrome.jpg

No full-size half ton actually averages 27 mpg overall.
Even if you do spend $13k more in fuel over 200k miles for a Tundra, that's because it's a heavy truck with a regular ol' 350 V8.
It doesn't have cylinder deactivation or any of that horseshit.
Plus, when you think about what you spend on repairs after warranty, or what you lose in value when trading in every 3 yrs, you easily spend that extra $13k on other things with a Chevy.

Again I said I got 20MPG in Tundra at best and got 27 MPG at best in silverado. I'm just saying the only bad thing about the Tundra is MPG. It's not good. But I traded Silverado in for Tundra because I wanted reliability. I averaged 15mpg in 2wd Tundra and 20mpg in 4x4 Silverado overall. We're in agreement. But I'm open enough to say the MPG in Tundra is bad. But we agree on everything else. We'll unless you believe in magic/Bitcoin....

If your getting anything over 14mpg you're truck is probably boring and you are not modding your truck correctly.

MPG threads are like car crashes. They happen all the time yet we always have to look and comment about it.

My average is in my signature. Truck currently has 65K on it so that's a long average. No matter how I drive, where I drive, when I drive (winter drops the average by 1 mpg), I will only fluctuate ~1mpg

I used to hyper monitor thinking I can drive easy to save some dollar bills. Anymore, it's just an indicator letting me know everything is working how it should.

The fuel prices as @Tundra234 said is the only thing to that's going to make a difference in your wallet.

No, we agree on all of it. 14mpg is not good, compared to what most vehicles get these days, plus the price of fuel.
But if you consider how heavy and stout the 2007-2021 Tundra is compared to other half tons and consider that it usually has a 5.7, 4wd and 4.30 gears and no cylinder deactivation or any other fuel saving tech, then 14mpg doesn't sound all that bad.
So, for what it is, I'm actually impressed with 14+.
Compared to other vehicles, yeah, no, it's pretty bad.

I've had my Tundra for a week and a half now. No fillup yet but have put about 300 miles on it. 285/65 R18 on it. Tank average is 17.7. Commute is around 19-21 on the computer depending on traffic. Around town has been 13-17 depending mainly on distance and ratio of red lights to driving. Pretty split between city and highway trips.

Overall been very happy with the mpg. Will be curious how computer compares with hand calculated.and slightly larger tires than stock

    I had an 2006 S60R and maybe got 15mpg, I have since bought a 2019 XC90 T8R and I'm getting 60ish MPG!

    Tundra is getting 11, lol.
