    Hello!

Just recently I’ve noticed a slight vibration in the rear end, it’s almost like a bumpy feeling while driving instead of vibrations, but the bumpiness creates a slight vibration in my seat while I drive. It’s sort of uncomfortable to drive. Has anyone heard of issues with this?

it seems to be at any speed, when I go slower I can feel it, but at highway speeds it’s more noticable. I have 3,500 miles on the truck, and it’s never done this until now.

It has Bridgestone duelers on it, with the 20” limited wheels.

Any ideas? I did a few months back have a flat that got repaired, but it’s been driving fine after the flat repair so I can’t see it being that?

Check your rear axle hub to axle housing bolts, had a small batch of 22s that got recalled for separation of the rear axle hub due to the bolts not being torqued at the factory. I suspect your repaired tire could be the issue. Sometimes you don’t just get a hole, you damage a belt in the tire also, if it separates and wads up a little it can get a little rumbly.

My truck is a 2023 so probably not part of that recall. My tire was plugged over a month ago and never had issues until the past few days. Not sure if it’s that unless it needs rebalanced? It doesn’t really feel like a vibration though, feels more like there is a flat spot or something on the tire causing slight bumps. It’s not drastic but very small and minor vibrations. Just super annoying. Probably should just have the dealer take a look

Sometimes it can be super simple like a balance weight fell off, I’ve had that happen before , or even some mud in the wrong spot on the wheel

Swap the wheel to a different side. You’ll be able to discern it it’s that.

Well. I have the same issue. Slight vibration with stock tires. Magnified the issue with one size larger tire. Went through 3 sets of tires. All the same. Severe vibration. I am back with the stock tires. Still feel it. Toeing a trailer it is unbearable. Drove great for 2 days with the bigger tires and it Road like on a cloud. All of a sudden shaking again. I am in the process of dealing with it with the dealer. Did you get an answer?

I went back to the dealer multiple times and had a case with Toyota as well. The front end got an alignment to Toyota “specs” but actually made it worse and now it pulls to the left. Took it back and they test drove 2 other new trucks and said they have the same issue. They wrote it off as “a characteristic of the tundra” and essentially that closed the case with Toyota corporate. They said nothing we can do further but if a fix comes out just continue to ask the dealer when you bring it in for service. May I ask, do you have the Dueler tires? I had a rental with the duelers and it did the same exact thing.. it has to be the tires, some days it’s not as bad, other days it’s worse. Sometimes it doesn’t do it at all.

I put Nitto Recon Grapplers 275/60r20 XL. Not the E load rated
Tires. 2 different sets and a set of bf gooodrich all-terrains. All had the same issue. BF Goodrich was shaking for a day. All of a sudden they rode like a dream for 2 days then went back to shaking. I put my stock Yokohama tires back on. Still shakes. It is violent when towing over 55 mph.
Frustrated. Pay that kind of money for a truck. Issues like this

Strange.. I’ve been trying to figure out the issue for 4 months now. I’ve researched the Bridgestones and saw several people saying they suck and have vibratio/shaking. The dealer checked everything and said nothing was loose in the drivetrain, etc. I heard tundras are extremely sensitive to balance issues. I’m in a position now where Toyota won’t do anything for me, so please keep me updated on if your dealer finds anything!

Will do. My truck is getting worse. Just made a trip to my camp. Driving up 55mph barely feel it towing my trailer. On the way back 55 mph it was a nuisance. Personally I think a drive shaft alignment issue or universal joints are defective. Possibly a driveshaft balance issue. I will definitely let you know what happens.

Update. I heard from the dealership. Shop foreman called. He talked to Toyota and they said that there is a filler in the driveshaft. The filler could be loose and shifting around. He is ordering me a driveshaft. I will let you know what happens after it is changed out.

Interesting! Weird how tires could make it better sometimes and worse on other days. at least your dealer offers a solution. Mine just sent me on my way and Toyota offered no solutions either. Now I’m curious if mine is the driveline. Yesterday I had a weird clunk but that may have just been the transmission when I was stopping/moving. The dealer claims everything was tight and nothing seemed off with the driveline components when they checked. Please let me know if you get this resolved and I will be calling Toyota. I do notice sometimes at lower speed it shakes/shutters. But when I put it in neutral it still shakes.

Hey did you ever get your truck back? Just curious if it fixed anything. Also when did this start for you? Mine was around 3500 miles. Does it mostly feel like the vibrations are in the floor board and your seat?

Well. Driveshaft swap did not work. Barely feel it without the trailer. Trailer enhances it. No change. Waiting to hear about what is next. Will keep you posted

Any try a road force balance instead of the standard balance on the tire?
I had a car once that did something similar. In the end the right balance machine fixed the issue.

Yes I went through 3 sets of tires. Now I am back to my stock tires until we get this figured out. Rode great for 2 days on the last set. Slowed up on the interstate. Then accelerated truck went to shaking again. Stock tires it is very light. Trailer and one size bigger tire the shake is more evident Hope Toyota stands behind their product. If the cannot solve the issue. New truck is next. Will not be a Toyota

Interesting! Is yours more acceleration related? Mine is only based on speed and not under acceleration. Adjusting air pressure seems to make it slightly better or worse. Wondering if mine is just the alignment out of wack, it’s already been adjusted several times due to feathering. All those times you changed out tires, are they different wheels? If it’s not the driveshaft it has to be the axle or tires/wheels?

Mine is different every time you drive it. I can tow my trailer one day start feeling it around 60 mph. The next day it was 55 mph. Sometimes it is very noticeable. Other times it is lighter feeling. I put 275/60r20 nitto recon grapplers. 2 different sets. Road forced. Put a set of bf Goodrich all-terrains. Shook initially then smoothed out. Drove nice for 2 days. Went back to shaking. Wondering if the rear transmission mount is loose. Moving around with different torq applied while driving

I also had this. I swapped out tires in the first couple hundred miles with tires given to me off a Silverado (2023 with less than 1000 miles on them). Truck shook like tires were out of round or out of balance. Dealership said tires needed s lot of weight to balance. Tires came off a friends truck so I know they were good before. I couldn’t stand it so paid another $100 to put stocks back on. Occasionally I can very slightly feel a shimmy. Gave the tires to a family member to put on a 2022 f150 and they’re perfectly fine. It’s something with our trucks. These were 1/2” bigger than my Yokohamas

Definitely. The more and more I talk to people. We are not the only ones with issues. Shop foreman is going to see when the Toyota rep will be in town. He wants the rep to ride in my truck. Towing a trailer with a small SxS enhances the shaking. Is yours a 4x4?

Does yours feel bumpy/shake at even low speeds? Does it do it when you are not towing? I almost feel like our issues are different or maybe they are related. Mine feels like a tire is out of round almost but I’ve had multiple balances, road force etc so not sure what could be the culprit? Maybe a rear axle? Have they looked at the torque converter? mine is such an annoyance, it’s not violent or anything just more a shaking my head moment every time I drive. Frustrating. Toyota did nothing for me.

Yes. Shop foreman said it feels like you are riding on square wheels. The shake is slight sometimes and is worse other times. I feel something around 30-35 mph. Comes back around 60mph. One day I might pull my trailer at 60. Slight shake. The next day I might have to drive 55. I am waiting to see what kinda response I get from Toyota. I will not keep the truck. If I can not put a level kit on and a tire 1 size bigger. The truck has a defect. All the lifter trucks with no issues. Cannot believe Toyota bailed on you like that. I will keep you posted. I was wondering if the alignment between the transmission and rear end might be off to one side. IDK

Yeah I’m disappointed as well. Almost pulled the trigger on new wheels and tires but I’m not going to just waste a couple grand for no resolution. Dealer wrote it off as normal since another like truck had the same vibration. They even wrote that on the receipt that it is a characteristic of the truck. May just down grade to something cheaper at this point that’s used.

Really sad to spend that kind of money and have issues. I had a 2010 tundra for 13 years 245,000 miles. Rode better than the 2023. No shaking issues. This issue is not sitting well with me. I am thinking the same thing. Down grading to something cheaper. I felt more confidence in my old truck than I do this one.

What is weird is when I drove the truck for a test ride before purchasing. Truck rode like you were on a cloud. So smooth. As I drove it the problem appeared. I will keep you posted.

Does the rear of your truck, or anyone watching this thread, sway when changing lanes? I have noticed during acceleration and changing lanes, unless the surface is perfectly flat, it sways side to side like if the rear tires are flat.

    Lots of stuff!
I have aftermarket wheels and “E” rated tires which are wider and taller than OE. The truck is smooth and handles the trailer well with no vibrations.

A vibrating truck is not normal.

I did get an alignment after putting in my levelling kit. Maybe that is a place to look!

Driveline vibrations can be brutal. go pro down there can sometimes help with seeing things.
