What do you guys use? I have one that on the lowest setting is so hot that we sleep with the windows in the tent open when the weather is in the 15 degree range. TIA

What heater do you use? I am looking at getting one for winter camping up at the ski slopes, and need something to heat a "go-fast" style truck bed camper. IMG_1359.jpg

I've been running a cheap Chinese diesel heater for a couple of years now, trouble free. I did modify it to fit and store away in a front runner wolf pack.

I don't! I need to make one as I get asked all the time. I have some info on my Instagram, jonnys_tundra, have a time lapse on YouTube and have an Amazon cart of parts I used. I've considered building another just to document the process better, just haven't done it yet.

You probably got a 5k when all you needed was a 2k size. Running them on low is a good way to soot up the burn chamber. I use a 5k because we’re not used to the cold in the desert. I modified the fuel line(soft green line is garbage for multiple reasons) and made sure to get a controller that the fuel table can be adjusted for altitude.

What did you do to the fuel tank cap? Looks like it has a valve. I have a chinese diesel heater as well, but the cap leaks like crazy on washboard roads because of the little vent hole in the top.

Yea, I added a vent. I installed this one on Amazon https://amzn.to/45KkeCV

I also removed the Gasket which turns brittle and put some oil resistant Gasket maker ( https://amzn.to/3Mk4jUO ) on there and let it set up completely and it makes it seal up great now.

Which one do you have, and do you set a temperature on the controller like a traditional thermostat in a house or a speed setting (hz)?
