I'm interested in a used winter tire set-up I saw online in my area (going to see them today after work).

I'm good with evaluating the tires/wheels, but my question is how can I tell if the TPMS (seller says are OEM parts) are working or not, and if they're compatible with my vehicle (2020 SR5)?

Should I even care about this if the tires/wheels are in good shape and the price is right?

Background info: the tires are studded Nokian, the wheels are the exact OEM wheels that are on the truck right now in fact, I've had the truck for 2 weeks, this is my first thread/post on this forum!

    Thanks for your input.

What year are they from? The 2020 and 2021's use a different sensor than the previous years.

Good question, I am thinking it's from a 2020 because the rims they are on are the exact same as the ones on the truck right now, but I will ask because you never know, right?

Toyota usually uses the same wheels for a few years. The mhz frequency of the sensors is what is different for the 2020 and newer.

Well, I ended up purchasing the wheels/tires I mentioned in the original post. They were in 'as new' condition - the nubs were still on the side of the tires and the wheels were in amazing condition - and yes, they had the TPMS included as the seller indicated online. That said, I have mounted the tires (and the Nokian's perform very, very well so far - but they are LOUD) but I haven't gotten around to fiddling with the TPMS initializing of the codes for the new sensors. I was expecting to see a dash warning light related to not initializing the new sensors, but there's nothing displaying on the dash so maybe I'll just leave that for now.

We have snow where I live now, and a lot of black ice due to freeze/thaw conditions recently and the Nokian's are performing as well as I hoped they would if not better. We don't have any deep snow yet, but I've been told that they will be fine in those conditions as well. Now all I have to do is get some sand-bags for the bed....
