I understand where you're coming from. I caught a politics dirty thirty for a post that was in no way political, and I was irritated about it for a bit. Especially when I saw other stuff that I viewed to have a more political slant than the simple picture with a name that I had posted. In the end I came to realize that the moderation here is done at the discretion of the mods, and frequently in consensus with other mods. As I understand it, many of the bans are discussed and weighed to check the bias of fellow moderators. Love it or hate it, it is what it is. Accepting that makes enjoying the forum much easier. Even if I catch a ban and somebody else doesn't and I don't think it's correct, or I'd handle it differently as a mod, I recognize that I'm not a mod. I don't have a say in how it is run and, honestly, I'm okay with that. 99% of the time the forum goes smooth and everyone gets along and the bans are solid. Why focus on the 1% that I disagree with?

If it really does bother you that much, though, I do have one suggestion. Use the chat with staff section. https://www.tundras.com/forums/chat-with-the-staff.59/ It's a place where you can air any concerns and complaints, and only the mods see it. It's the professional way to handle it, and the mods can speak more freely to help you understand situations. I've used it many a time to get answers to various questions. I suggest this because what you're doing right now, questioning/badgering the mods about how the site is run, is also against the rules. They haven't banned you either. Mod discretion is keeping you here.

It's certainly delicate when trying to avoid anything political especially a union going on strike thread. I mentioned the air controller issue of 1981. I happened to be assigned to Marine Air Traffic Control Squadron-28 stationed at MCAS New River NC in August of 81. Not long after the air controllers went on strike we had several squadron members called back from TDY assignments and such. We knew something was up. In a few days most of our air controllers were back to the squadron. Striking controllers were canned. No need to go into why. Our controllers were snatched up by the Guvment and were assigned to various locations to fill the open controller spots. Other military branches were raided of their air controllers. Many were called back out of retirement. It was dicey at first but plane bottlenecks eventually went away and things got back to normal. UAW might get what they wish for...a long vacation. Ha!

If they had been smart, they’d have gone after that first, gotten their ridiculous requests, and spent the last 6 weeks getting paid more and being useful instead of being worthless drains on society and screwing over every one else in the country that needs them to work so they can go about their daily lives. #unionssuck

Wow. Or maybe Ford, whose profits since 2020 exceed 70 billion, that’s $70,000,000,000 could have shared a minuscule amount of that for the workers. I love hamburger flippers who barely pull minimum wage defending the guy who gets a ten million dollar bonus every year.

There will be zero effect on them. The CEO’s will make what they always make. The only thing they accomplished was screwing over regular people who expect others to do their job on a daily basis so they aren’t inconvenienced. All they’ve done is for selfish gain. The company will move on and survive and more than likely end up with tax payer funded bail out. Tax payers such as the very same union folks that drove them to this. They also guaranteed higher prices for consumers. Consumers who are also the very same union workers that caused it. They served no other purpose but themselves and screwed everyone else over for their own selfish reasons.

You think running a $70,000,000,000 a year company is easy? You hold the careers of tens of thousands of people in your hands. You have to be thinking 10+yrs into the future and planning that far ahead to make sure you don’t tank the company. You answer to the board, share holders, employees. It’s a 24/7 job.

Well, I'm glad they worked that out.
I was concerned that the prices of Fords would skyrocket and I'd be stuck buying Toyotas.

You act like the CEO is doing this alone. They can make stupid decisions, get canned, and fly away on their golden parachute.

The cost was going up no matter what the employee pay was. Gotta pump those earnings numbers.

I keep having to remind people that corporations saw record profits in 2022. It's weird how people will keep defending these mega corporations that don't give two f*cks about their employees.

"The red-hot inflation rate has aligned with growing corporate profit margins that soared to record levels in 2022. Executives in many sectors acknowledge that markups are the primary driver behind their earnings, with price hikes more than making up for elevated input costs. "

But yeah, it's definitely the unions screwing us over, not Wall St. Damn greedy unions.

That will most likely happen now. 25% wage increase over the contract period. Add that burden hoping that people will be able to buy a more expensive ride that they don't want with high interest rates. What could possibly go wrong?

Then why don't the unions strike for these corporations to lower their profit margins and CEO bonuses, to help curb inflation and cost of living increases,....and vehicle prices?
