Does your pano roof open all the way with one touch?

So I recently noticed that my sunroof doesn’t actually open all the way when you push the button once. After it finishes opening I noticed if I hold the button longer it will open another 3 inches or so. Anyone else seeing this?

I've thought about asking this question myself. Yes, mine stops just short of a full open, and if I hit the button again it will open all the way. It also seems pushing the button up to tilt the panel barely cracks it at all. I keep forgetting to do the same in the Highlander to compare, though to be fair that isn't a pano roof.

That is how its designed. It opens as much as it does with one touch for "wind noise" purposes. If you pull it back all the way it just gets louder in the cab.

It stops short of fully open to reduce wind noise. Oddly enough, the manual documents this for the regular sunroof but not for the panoramic sunroof.

Makes sense, but why not just make that the max open distance? I usually only drive 40 or under when I have it open, so I don't notice much wind noise difference. Granted, I usually open the rear window at the same time.

Strange. Mines open all the way with a longer push. Even if I have the shade cover it all retracts and open after one push. Mind you mines is a 22 not sure if they changed it for other models

My wife’s Outback does the same thing. I had assumed this was fairly common.

Every Tundra I ever had opened to a certain point and then an extra touch brings it back a little further. My 22 Platinum is the exact same way. I’m sure it’s for optimal wind noise but when I open the roof I always bring it back as far as it goes. Totally normal….

I guess when I have it open I’m not going fast enough to have the noise be any different between the two positions. Alternatively, I usually open the back glass too so maybe that negates the different positions.

Just now noticing the "tilt up" barely opens it at all.
I thought maybe it was getting stuck but seems others are the same way from what I'm reading in here.

Yeah, the tilt up barely opens, not enough to throw an empty beer can out. But it does create some air movement in the cab. Would probably be noisy if it opened more.

I know this is slightly off topic, sorry....but is there a way to get it to stop at maybe 1/4 way open? I'd like it to open up some but still have the sun shade benefit. thanks.

I agree, it would be nice to open the moonroof a small amount and still have the sunshade 3/4 closed.
I wasn't able to figure out a way to leave the sunshade partially closed while having the moonroof open any amount at all.
Seems like the sunshade has to be all the way open to operate the moonroof at all.

I've had other vehicles where the tilt up was much higher.
I think the reason ours work this way is that it would have been harder / more expensive to design it to tilt up higher.
The way this functions, it looks like the tilt up is merely the initial motion of the slide open feature.

The workaround I used for this is to tint your whole roof with ceramic tint, it keeps all the heat out of the cab. With shade open you won't burn up in the sun. Ive always avoided sunroof for that reason. My truck came with the pano roof & my shade is open 90% of the time now with that tint. Totally enjoyable.
