Any 2023 owners received their second key fob?

Hi, did you got a second mechanical key when you took delivery of the car?

 

Hi, when did you purchase your car? How many car key have you received when you took the delivery of the truck? Did you received 1 smart fob key and 2 mechanical metal keys?

 

I got my Tundra in December with one set of key. A key fob was received this month but without the mechanical metal key. Did you have 2 metal keys when you took your Tundra?

 

I got my Tundra in October 2022, Got both FOBs with the metal inserts at the time of pickup! Sort of weird that I missed all this fun! I feel left out.

 

You should have been given a second mechanical key when you purchased your truck from the dealership. Might want to dig around through the glovebox or manual folder to see if you have it. That or call the dealer you bought it from and tell them to send you a second mechanical key.

 

got mine February ‘23. Came with 1 fob and 2 metal keys at time of purchase. Didn’t even bring my second key today and they just only gave me the fob owed

 

Well that's not so bad if they come through on time.

 

Just contacted my Toyota dealership about key fob for my Tundra delivered July 24, 2023. This is what they said.

"I just received an email last week indicating the campaign would start notifying clients this week of the 2nd key availability. Much like a recall or enhancement, you need to be notified as it is VIN specific. You will get a letter in the mail and in your truck via the Toyota multimedia/phone application (if you agreed to have it setup). Once you have the letter you can contact the Service team and let them know and we can schedule the programming/pairing appointment."

 

Got the call. Appointment is tomorrow. Should be a big day! New key, tonneau hack (I mean fix), anti gas tank explosion device, oil change... If only they could fix my throttle lag!

 

Got my new FOB today.... Took about 1 1/2 hours, not sure why. Happy that this really minor issue is resolved!

 

When did you purchase the truck?

 

I'm digging all through the Toyota app on my phone and not finding a recall section. Can you help navigate? Or is it just a standard notification mixed in with the others?

 

When you open app, it should be in health and alerts, then service campaign would be the color red to show that you have a message

 

Got it…thanks. If you happened to have tapped on “Remote & Sharing”, the whole “Vehicle Status, Health and Alerts, etc” menu is hidden.

2nd Key Notification: 10/23/23 (Picked up Yesterday)

 

I took delivery of my 2023 Tundra in December 2022 with 1 key fob and 2 mechanical keys. Was pissed because the dealer made no mention of only 1 key fob until after the deal was completed. They also made it sound like it would be weeks, not months before the 2nd fob was delivered. I eventually got the 2nd key fob in September of this year. I had success contacting Toyota through X (twitter). I got updates whenever I inquired, but the dates kept moving. When I asked the dealer what would i do if I misplaced the key fob - they had them for sale for $400. I was considering buying one then suing the dealership in small claims for the cost of the fob.

 

Took delivery of my 2023 Tundra in February 2023 with 1 key fob. Finally getting the second one November 4th, 2023. Asked service department why it takes 1 hour to program. Correct me if I am wrong in thinking that this programming process should only take a few minutes to perform. Anyway, truck preforms well so far, towing 6K camper at 5K miles with no problems.

 

Just bought my 24 yesterday. One key as well. I was told Toyota will send me a letter/notice via app when I’m scheduled to get my 2nd smart fob. I did get a small mechanical key that came with the FOB though.

 

You should have two mechanical keys. One that is in the FOB that comes with the truck.
The spare one will make home in the your second key fob when you get it in 8 months. (hopefully less)

 

So if it shows in the app, I can just go to the dealer and get it now?

 

I'm still waiting on mine but based on what I've read previously in this thread, I think you need to call and make an appointment to have it programmed to your vehicle.

 

No. You have to call a dealership and make an appointment to have it done. after I got my notification they couldn’t fit me in till another 10 days

No you have to call the dealer (doesnt matter if you bought it from them) When I made the appt they looked up the vin and scheduled it.
Just make sure that they parts guy gets the keyfob in before your appointment. Otherwise you end up like me having to go twice.

 

Guessing mainly a truck issue, just picked up a new Camary for back and forth to work and came with two key fobs.

 

Toyota way ahead of Lexus on these 2nd keys. We just got the notification a week ago on a 2023MY purchased 11/22

Call any dealer or your purchasing dealer? Mine should be soon hopefully, purchased in April/May 23'....
