Headlights going off or dim randomly. Brights not working.

2013 Tundra Headlights are acting wack. I am trying to upload a video but it isn’t letting me so I’ll describe the situation and keep trying to upload the video. The headlights were on then I flip the brights on and they all go off, switching back to headlights they are super dim, the I turn the truck on and they go back on, but brights still don’t work. second video lights are off and truck is on but when I turn the car off the light go on. Both sides go on/off at the same time, runner lights work. Shit is super random and can’t figure out why.

 

How’s your battery? Any LED lights?

 

Never had an issue with the battery. I just replaced the headlights because was having the same issue with the old ones. New ones worked for a week or 2 and now this again. No additional led lights but the ones I just installed are led, old ones were not.

Not sure, bought the truck in February. Has Always started in really cold weather and when I’ve left a cab lights on for a while.

I can usually get the lights to go back on by continually turning the truck on and off until they stay on.

 

Besides the headlights. Are any of the other lights LEDs? The circuits are load dependent, LEDs are too efficient and don’t draw enough power. Lights will act funny without the right resistance.

 

Check your battery and your grounds.

So many wonky problems I trace back to bad grounds…

 

Cleaned all the grounds near the battery and the negative terminal now I got another problem, the truck won’t start. Just clicking.

No others led lights, battery is from 2021. The truck was having issues shifting so the solenoid was replaced back in February which fixed it. Could all these issues have something to do with the solenoid?

 

Just figured out the headlight issue has to do with the relay. When I jiggle the relay I can get the lights to turn on and off. I’ll replace the relay but worried it’s more of an issue with the connection to the fuse box… but not sure.

 

I’ve had that happen with an old fold and it turned out to be the headlight switch itself . The relay should work .

 

So update, replaced the relay and thing started working like normal for about a week and then all of a sudden the brights stopped working. They worked intermittently for a bit and now they wont go on at all. Tried swapping the same relays around but it didnt change anything. Any ideas what it could be?
