This is the originsl front/rear camera kit that I had installed before installing the Alpine head unit - it is made by "anytimebackupcamera.com"

PM me if you are interested.

This does NOT come with a camera, but I’ve tidied up the wires and made a 56” long harness to connect the OEM-style switch, which will easily reach from your radio area to the spot behind the shifter.

You will need to connect the green pig tail to the trigger wire on your front camera, the front camera RCA to the open RCA jack, and extend the black wire to a ground of your choosing.

Bump, and updated post. This thing is now as pre-wired as it can be.

For my own edification, if you don't mind,
is this for a truck that has a factory front and rear camera and this harness allows to have either on the screen full time?
Also, on a truck that only has the typical backup cam, could an aftermarket front camera be added, or does the stock head unit have to be configured for a front camera from the factory?

I’m not aware of any rigs prior to the 22’s with a factory front camera.
    This setup provides three functions:
    • Switch in middle (OFF) leaves the rear backup camera in factory mode, where it is activated by shifting into reverse.
    • Switch in Rear will turn on the rear camera on the radio screen, regardless of the position of the shifter
    • Switch in Front will turn on an aftermarket camera of the installer’s choosing on the radio screen, regardless of the shifter position.
It works by 1) manually triggering the reverse signal to the head unit (without actually sending that signal to the backup lights or transmission) to switch it to camera view and 2) using a relay to pass the appropriate camera video feed to the head unit.

There’s another variation sold by a mender on here called the FRAC (Front Rear Anytime Camera) that works similarly, but uses different components to achieve the functions. One thing I’ve noticed that is different between the two options - on the FRAC if you are in Front mode but shift the truck into reverse, it will switch to the rear camera. With this harness, if you are in Front and shift to reverse it will stay on the front camera. I actually found I prefer to have it stay in the mode I selected (useful when parking in tight spaces - especially since I had this switch mounted right behind the shifter). The FRAC also comes with an extra switch that can be used to trick the radio into thinking you are parked (called a “video in motion bypass”) to allow you to access the full settings or navigation keyboard while moving (passengers - not the driver).
