    Lots of stuff!
So what are Raptor owners saying about the reliability of the V6TT that Ford is building?

It seems quite positive after they resolved the cam phaser issue in 2020 MY.

I'll stick with my single key fob @113k + and no heated steering wheel on a Raptor R!

Good choice. If I had the money, I would've gone for a Raptor too.

OP, I’m sorry you had so much trouble with your Tundra. I’ve owned several TRD Pros and Raptors over the years. I just traded in my latest gen Raptor—why? Significant QC issues, especially with critical parts (A/C evap coil freezing over is just one for example, on a 85k+ truck, where to repair they have to remove both front seats, entire dash, battery, battery tray, center console, to get to one small faulty evap sensor). I pray you didn’t trade one problem for an even worse one (I would be super pissed if bubba at the dealer basically had to disassemble my entire $85k truck interior to change one small part, forever listed on my carfax maintenance history, to fix A/C hot/no air in the middle of a TX summer). These are just a few separate examples on QC issues with the latest gen Raptors, especially with the widespread A/C issue, all brand new 2023s—I hope yours isn’t affected, sincerely!

Well done, but you did your time. Congrats and hopefully less nagging bullsh*t.
Hard to believe I'm saying that about a Toyota Tundra. :(

Like the engine it’s 0.000000000000001% of trucks sold!!!!!!!!

    or

My raptor just went through San Antonio summer and didn’t freeze up once. Must not be an issue

Raptors are neat. Hope it’s good to you

that being said, I don’t think anyone’s making a truck worth buying anymore with the qc issues I’ve seen across the board. They’d be more acceptable at a 50k price tag. But oof 80k

Very cool—I’m happy to see you’re not having any issues with your F-150/Raptor A/C, sincerely, that’s awesome. Raptors are amazing advanced trucks, and I enjoyed mine.

I don’t think ANYONE that buys a Ford, Chevy, GM, Nissan, or Toyota should have to deal with all the QC issues these days on brand new trucks regardless of price, period.

The reality is though that this was widespread enough issue that Ford issued a TSB for it, and you can see how much of your cab they have to take apart to get to such a small, easy to change part on the F-150:

Here’s to many trouble-free years for you and the OP regardless of brand you buy as everyone deserves a solid vehicle when they spend their hard-earned money /cheers mate

It’s more than a handful. The single long term quality study in existence shows drivetrain issues in F-series trucks occur at a rate of nearly 1 in 5 (18.7%).

That’s pretty high, but that still means there are 4 happy drivers for every 1 who isn’t. And that’s drivetrain issues only.

I think for most Raptor drivers, the potential issues are worth what you get. Nothing else compares unless you build it.

I’m considering when to trade in to an HD rig. Hard to let go of the most hassle free truck in existence, but we’re outgrowing it.

Sometimes "issues" can be a complaint from someone about how the truck shifts. Or a minor oil leak. I've never seen a Ford truck that didn't have a minor oil leak. The 10 speed has been complained about across Ford and Chevy platforms (Same trans in development, then they each put their own finishing touches on it). It's a lot of gears, sometimes they shift hunt or abruptly change gears and it's not as smooth as the older 4 and 6 speeds were. Doesn't mean they won't be reliable or even that they have an actual problem. Just a reality / expectation mismatch.

Yes hope the OP has many miles of happiness.
My main issue with Ford was "if it aint completely broke we won't fix it" this started with the cam phasers @ 20k (said its the hpfp making a normal noise) then it finally let go @ 40k. Transmission overheating and they stated it was 4 qts over full so they removed the excess fluid and reflashed the transmission.(drive 40k and suddenly the transmission is overfull)?? So they just keep pushing me off the parking lot and I finally decided not to come back.

All the issues he mentioned seem like they’ve been worked out on the newer ‘23 Tundras. All new models are gonna have their issues. The Raptors look nice but Ford doesn’t have a great track record with… anything? lol. Quick scan of the Raptor forums seems like they have more problems than the ‘23 Tundra.

For Dashboard Light, I don’t think customer complaints are included in issues. They log issues on “vehicles that have been independently inspected by ASE certified mechanics and professional car buyers.” If they included customer complaints, one would think the 3rd gen Taco’s score would’ve taken a massive hit because so many people hate that gutless, gear-hunting wonder. But it is sitting at a near perfect score.

From what I understand of the issues with the Ford 10speed, it’s more than just a rough shift; it’s when it’s so rough it feels like a grenade went off under the truck as you’re coming to a stop. That sounds like an actual issue to me, even if the “fix” is usually just a reflash.

my 23 has been solid so far, hopefully it stays that way. bottom line, I have a lot more faith in toyota to fix something than ford if something goes wrong.

that said, my Transit 350 Highroof has been good so far, I hope that stays that way too, lol.

I won't either, unless my use case for a truck forces my family into a 1 ton.

As for why, suffice it to say for me they're just generally not made as well. Or at least as well as the older Toyota and Lexus that I currently own. Last two domestics I bought stranded my wife on the side of the road.

I married into a UAW Ford worker Family. Every single one, I mean all six of them, lazy, calling off every other day. Faking injuries, smoking dope everyday. Go to work drunk, get drunk there. They all bitch Ford is fucking them over. I just shake my head.

You're going to get that mentality with any labor based / union job.

Many of my uncles retired from the Ford stamping plant in Buffalo, they aren't like that.

The one thing that would cause me to trade our Tundra in is the payload. I haul around a trailers enough to where it is borderline maxing out the payload. However, I'm really struggling with the options, knowing that this Tundra is so reliable, and I don't want to trade it in for a problem.

All of the HD's available have issues that can be very expensive to fix and frustrating to deal with. I think I'll likely just put some money into the Tundra to help with some of the weak suspension issues that contributes to the lower payload. Won't increase capacity, but maybe help out with drivability.
