    i have a 2005 Tundra 4x4 and would like to know how to turn off the check engine light.

    Really, any major chain auto parts store will scan for codes, test batteries, test alternators for free.

    @05 Tundra-Sequim the light is on because something is malfunctioning. It won't turn off until you find the problem and fix it. Not all stored codes are straight-forward, and I would never take them at face value, some are misleading. Like, it may say 'cat efficiency is low', but that usually is a sign your oxygen sensors are bad. Tell us what the code is, the gang here can help.

    You'll also need to tell us if you've got a V6 or V8.

    The FLAPS in my area seem to only read codes now and clear them. Guess they want you buy a scantool.
