it would be nice if all dealers would do the Temp Fix. I was at my local dealer last week and talked with them about the issue - temp and permanent fix - they told me they will not be doing temp fixes as they don't have the resources (space, person power or hours in the week) to do them just to have to turn around and then do a permanent fix - they are going to put off temp fixes until a permanent fix is released. I'm okay with it as I'd rather not have to go in twice and I see their point. Total zoo there with all the service activities they perform on so many models and year makes. Easy to see why part and service make a shit load of $$ for them and sales is not what it use to be. If they tell me to stop driving it - well then I guess I'd change my tune. For now - all good. Obviously I don't speak for those who expect a temp fix just to go back again. You are correct with your information, and it is appreciated.

I caught the October release / notification date for the temp fix and so did the dealer - I will give them the benefit of doubt on taking or not taking action on performing temp fixes until the actual document is released - they may change their tune for the obvious as you note. I will absolutely make them known if they opt to stay the no-temp fix path after notice is released. Your assistance is appreciated.

My July build still doesn't show any recall for this issue, did they start addressing it at some point in time with their builds?

I was equally shocked by their response too - I got my service done for new rims and left dreading knowing I would have to go back once I received the remedy / fix notice. There has been major turnover at this dealership in the last year - which I have gone to for over 20 years. Now only one person left I knew from then. They told me once I get my letter for my additional FOB it would take them six additional weeks to get it and after they received it would be two additional weeks before they could get it in for programming. Love the truck but this is the kind of stuff that makes you question what is going on. Likely the case across all manufacturers.

I purchased a 2023 TRD Pro which came into the dealership just 3 days back. I went to Toyota site to check for open recalls and this is what it says

There are no open Safety Recalls or Service Campaigns for this vehicle.

Does this mean recently manufactured 2023s have the fix?

My June 20, 2023 build is not included in the recall either. I posted what I believe is the fix on page 12 of this thread. They added a protective sleeve to one of the lines where they cross. Pics of that same area on earlier builds don't have that sleeve.

On the drivers side of the fuel tank the heat shield has a raised square shaped flap about 2' in front of the rear axle. The area in question is behind that flap. It's about 8" forward of where the fuel filler hose connects of the tank.

I reached up and over the exhaust and driveshaft with my phone on video set to 0.5 magnification. Then I just slowly waived the phone around while recording. That pic is a still frame from the video.

    Hope this helps,

    Matt

    So am I.
Aside from sounding like my wife where she makes partial statements and leaves 80% of the story for any one to guess, you copy & pasted the exact same reply in 2 of 2 of your posts ever, here on Tundras.com.

Just got off the phone with my dealer. They're now saying the temporary fix is coming some time in November. Permanent fix will come some time in 2024. Meanwhile, I'm driving a rental minivan. This is my first and last toyota. I regret not buying a Ford or GM. $70k for a truck I haven't seen in months.

Correct. The tonneau cover recall appeared in my app way before the recall for the fuel line. My comment was intended to highlight how low I am on the list of receiving recall letters.

The app notification is fairly instant. The letters are very slow to be sent out. You're not the only one!

It happens when your assigned postal employee is on the spectrum. They hand you a letter, you reach out and grasp it to claim possession, and the postal employee refuses to relinquish the postal article.

This event gives rise to a contest: you are both aware that the postal article is too fragile to be a direct component of un-armed combat, but no other solution apart from naked aggression will be sufficient.

A brief cessation of hostilities is brokered. You both place the postal article, lovingly, in a nearby yet secure location. Terms and order of battle are struck: you will both enter the "squared circle" of WWF hallowed lore. The contest is scheduled for one fall; ejection from the ring over the top rope only. No submissions.

@Mattedfred engages his opponent with a zeal and vigor not seen since Rowdy Roddy Piper tore the bejesus out of "The King" Harley Race. The postal employee beans Mattedfred over the hade with the bell from the announcers table. All was lost... the postal employee was almost assured of victory.

But lo!! A chant arose from all in attendance!

    Matted! Fred!
    Matted! Fred!
    MATTED!! FRED!!

Like the Lady Of The Lake holding aloft Excalibur, Mattedfred's fist shot skyward, wreathed in lordly illumination. The beaten and bloody Mattedfred roared with an intensity previously reserved for only the Olde Norsk Battlemasters of Åsgaard. The postal employee, riven with blood-curdling terror, flung herself over the top rope thus ending the contest.

Mattedfred, victorious but still very wounded and battered, limped over to the postal article and claimed it for all time.

THAT... is how you barely get a letter.

    Just, wow.
    A couple of thoughts...
    1. Can you write my Christmas card this year?
    2. Can we be friends?
    3. That was amazing and I can't wait for the sequel.

I'm surprised that my comment seems to have stirred up so much feedback. Am I using the word wrong? Is it a Texan phrase? I meant it as in "I only just now received the tonneau cover warning."

not surprising since it’s a first year model . Recalls and tsbs are good , means Toyota is fixing the problem, which they usually do.

This topic has already been gone over many many times. Search and then post.

Approved dealer completed "temp" fix is due next month. 2024 they are supposed to issue official fix.

If it really happens? Guess we'll all see.
