hell yeah and nukeboxes often have feet kits you can use to throw it on the counter.

and on the backsplash, stainless is easy. And they sell sheets and even kits that are standard range width on tbe old scAmazon. Hella easy to install, even if just to buy some time with no ugly holes in the walls. Easy cleanup. No grout to stain. Fireproof. And it’ll match the new hood.

Not sure if BigGurl sells them, but you know as well as I do, they have end “clips” and center “clips” if you have to go distance and transition into something else.

I took a nap instead. Then cooked dinner, as seen elsewhere.

You gotta understand, we just had this bathroom overhauled in like 2017 or something. All tile on wall, with a tile curb and glass walls. The grout has cracked on the curb twice. First time was within 18 months. Got the installer to replace with sanded grout. 18 months later, started seeing cracks again. I know everything is sealed prope, while chipping/sawing out the grout I found zero evidence that water intrusion is the cause, nor was there any noteworthy moisture to be found. I think they just mixed the grout too loose and it probably started cracking within weeks but my crappy eyes can’t see it.

Anyway, the silicone was getting mildew roots too, so I’m cutting that out and redoing it while in there. Using pre-mix grout in hopes it lasts another 10-15 years when we should be long gone.

Thankfully only had to clean out and regroup the curb, and several pieces chipped out in chunks making grout matching at the big box store a snap.

I’ll get it done tomorrow while the kids are at school.

Oh - and stupid crap like this is why I hate hiring other people to do any work for me. If I, an amateur with only occasional experience, can typically do a better, longer lasting job, that’s a problem.

Good tile people are EXTREMELY hard to find. The one I had died of colon cancer last year.

That's one of the main reasons why we're leaning towards remodeling our 1991 bathrooms ourselves. That and $$$ of course. We had new windows installed last week. I don't know shit about this but even I was having to go around and make the installers fix some things they either missed or just ignored. People don't care.

My plan is to knock out one bathroom in 2024. I've never installed tile before so I have a lot to figure out.

I hate tile. It’s one of those things I’ll always pay other people to do. But after this BS with our last two bathrooms, I’m done. There are too many alternatives to tile that won’t mildew and don’t use grout that I don’t think I’ll ever use tile in a bathroom again.

I did the same with my kitchen backsplash. My friend had a tile cutter so I learned how to do it and had his input as well.

    YouTube University is pretty phenomenal.

I want a one piece shower at this point. No tile no grout. Lots of nicer fake fiberglass options these days.

one piece per wall or a 3 wall one piece or corner kit. Just something where you caulk one seam and it’s done for a few decades. Don’t care how it looks.

Local construction supply place will custom pour just about anything you want in cultured marble. Walls. Pans. With any insets and features you want. And it’s as cheap or cheaper than tile. Use any pan you want. Glue up the walls. Seal the corners, throw any door of your choice on it.

But there’s a ton of systems out there. Kohler has Choreograph and LuxStone, for example. But there’s a lot of similar systems out there for pocket showers that are not anbsurdly expensive and due to their design are virtually impossible to have leak.

This is what we did in the basement buildout. $1,200 out the door and more than half of that was the awesomely nice floating door which if I took a pic, it doesn’t look like the typical tub and fiberglass bullshit you usually see. I’ll try to remember to grab a shot tomorrow. You just need to shop around to find the right kit.

This is the kit we went with: https://www.deltafaucet.com/bathroom/product/B12207-6032-WH.html
