Ordered some T10 white LEDs. Should be here soon. I'll throw them in the AC controls panel since I have to take it back off cuz I forgot to plug the reverse camera activation wire the last time I was playing with my steering wheel controls.

That's something I need to do next time I have the dash out. I was just gonna grab some 194 LED Sylvanias. I think it just uses two bulbs or something in our 05/06, right?

I saw 3 T10 bulbs near the main adjustment knobs and there are 3 smaller T5 bulbs that light up the side buttons for cargo lights switch and hazard lights. I already had T5s on hand that I had purchased to install in the key ring light. I also took my instrument cluster out removed the back plastic panel and was going to replace those bulbs as well but from all I've read, 05-06 already have LEDs in the cluster. Just have to take it apart and sand off the green backing. Didn't care to do all that. I'll live with the light green glow on the cluster.

T10 bulbs arrived. I popped them in. 3 T10 bulbs in red circles. 3 T5 bulbs in blue circles.

I wonder if the Shift L and Cargo light switches have separate bulbs in them cuz they are still yellowish somewhat compared to the rest.

These are the T10 bulbs I used. The little squares between the contacts made for a very tight fit into the plastic holders. Recommend finding bulbs without those little squares there.

Errbody talkin about bulbs lately. Can someone remember me why you're supposed to disco the DRL on retrofits? I searched and couldn't find it but I swear it was giving the ballasts on retrofit projectors the premature evacuation for some reason.

It bugs me that it's there but when I'm driving the dash plastic masks it from my view. There is also a small gap along the bottom of the radio and a tiny one along the right hand side. Cheap plastic dash kit. Meh. Lol

I have one of the Scosche kits (2nd pic in this thread) in my 'truck parts to install' bin right now. I need to get off my ass and install it. The Metra kit is ass. Is that what you've got installed?

You guys with the 03 up must have a different opening size than the 00-02 because I did not need a kit

Not sure. I think it's Metra. Went back to my Amazon orders but didn't find it or an entry for Scosche. May have purchase elsewhere.

Edit: Found my receipt. It's a Metra kit I ordered off fleBay.

Looks like Scosche TA1465B is similar kit to mine. Just the 2 side pieces. Promises no gap.

I know this post is a couple of months old, but I just went through this very thing and came up with that same frankenstein solution. Worked pretty well because I couldn’t get a prybar to stay in place. Even if I would’ve had a helper, I would have been afraid to try to put that bolt through otherwise

Man I went to pick up my Camry after a rotation and my hubcap was barely hanging on. One of their jackwagons broke the hupcap tabs and then just slapped it back on cockeyed like I wouldn't notice it about to fall off.

Yeah I hate that. After Discount put my new tires on I had to redo all my center caps because they were all loose or half-azzed on there.

The knuckleheads remove the lug nuts while the cap is in place, then use the shaft of the tire machine to pop them out. This causes a lot of breakage, needless to say. I saw this happen, and then the manager came out to tell me that it wasn't their fault...that my caps were cracked beforehand! I don't go to that shop anymore. Now I remove the caps before I go for tire work.

Classic mistake. I warned @au.ramsey about that one, and assume he had an easier time than @danb with his install.

Granted, it's easier still if you don't have the LBJ or TRE connected also, so the LCA is free to move. Gotta disco those limiting points.

If you didn’t already, this need it’s own thread or build page. Awesome work and although I’m not a huge snorkel fan, it looks great! Love to hear the report back on any differences you notice.

Thank you, but I didn’t document the whole thing to be worthy of an entire build thread. There are tons of videos out there on guys that have done this and really there’s no easy way to explain it.
It’s just a matter of eyeballing everything. There are no instructions, and the template is worthless even for the Land Cruiser. You just have to pick the line that looks good and commit.
I did not remove the fender to do this. I did have to remove the inner fender liner, and the air box. Once I had the inner tubing inside the fender, I knew about where I needed to drill the hole. After that, I slid the airbox inside the inner tube and tightened that clamp down. Then it was a shot of whiskey before cutting the 4 1/2 inch hole in the fender. Once the cut was made, then I could put the template on to see where the mounting holes needed to be in relation to how I wanted the snorkel to fit. Being that there was already a 4 1/2 inch circle in the fender, there was no turning back. So pretty much drill the rest of the holes put the snorkel on the fender and tighten everything down on the backside.
I will say that because this is a true cool air intake, there is a very minute yet positive difference in throttle response. Since the OEM intake actually feeds air from inside the fender, it makes me laugh at people who purchase “cool air intakes” that draw air from the engine compartment. At least this still utilizes the OEM airbox and the only modifications needed were removing fender metal.
Later on, I may take a heat gun to the snorkel neck and see if I can massage it closer to the a pillar without intruding on the door. For now it is functional and sturdy.

You could include your pics, tips and techniques and link whichever video was you best reference for install. Would help the members here who search for this in the future. Great job btw.
