Just received my retrofits from leo(eledobleu) at wholesale retrofits. While they look good the lights shake or jiggle every time I hit the slightest bump even on a freshly paved road . I can see it because it's very pronounced to the point where it is distracting and drives me up the wall. I'm disappointed that I do not like them just because of that. Anyone have any fixes or ideas to eliminate this problem. Think I might just have to eat these headlights and go with the new 18 led' s if they fit the sr5.

I did some research and the only thing I found was a post that the eledobleu made that indicated that they will shake because the reflector bowl needs to move due to the leveling motors. The needed movement of the bowl causes the projector to shake when i hit bumps. I'll take a video tonight on the way to work tonight see if I can upload it. See what you guys think. I can tell you had I known this was what they are like I never would have bought them.

Mine shake too. One is worse than the other but I agree it's a big downside. Mine are the budget retrofit on a 2nd gen. My lights were in rough shape before but they didn't shake :(

They shouldn't shake much. The stock reflector bowl does shake, and if you jb weld a heavy projector onto it, it's going to shake a bit more.

With that said, I did my retro myself and I haven't noticed any shaking issues. I also didn't remove the reflector bowl from the housing when I did mine. Some folks do.

Yes. I kept my leveling motor in and kept the reflector bowl on the housing the whole time.

I would just like to send them back and get my money back since to his own admission in a thread he created stating that they come with the shakes because of the weight of the projector. Of course if I'd known that I would have passed. In the budget retrofit advertisement he indicates there are no returns. I haven't ask yet but I think I might be stuck like chuck. Maybe he will read this thread, see the video and agree that a return and refund would be appropriate.

It's still hard to really tell in the videos how much shake you have, but I can tell it's a lot more than mine. I only get a slight shake over huge bumps or large pot holes. Normal driving, never. I did mine myself, with a big heavy RX350 projector (I assume the budget retrofit uses a lighter projector like the mini H1?). I used the threaded rod/screw rotation adjustment method, followed up by JB weld once aligned.

From what i've seen, he seems a stand up guy so i'd get in touch with him and work it out. Vendors can't hide behind a "no returns" policy if the goods weren't fit for purpose or as described, it's more so that you can't change your mind about the purchase. It doesn't allow people to sell defective goods and give you, the buyer, no recourse in the event of sub-standard products.

I also have the RX350 retrofit done by someone else and have zero shake. So for the guys that want retrofits they don't all shake.

As I stated in the email I sent you, because you went with the "budget retrofits", this is a defect with the budget projectors. The bulb holder on the Acme D2S Projectors does not secure the bulb tight enough like the higher end projectors like the mini D2S 4.0.

This is why before purchasing, everyone is informed that the Budget retrofits are for "looks" only and not performance.

The thread about the shaking is out-dated and wrong. The problem is the Acme projectors itself.

You would have to re-seat the bulbs and try to make it more secure possibly by added a rubber band between the bulb and bulb holder.

I still don't think they headlights should shake like they do. How am I suppose to know they are going to shake like that based on "not for performance" sure I understand not as bright but shaky like they are going to fall apart. So I assuming you are refusing a refund?

Because the lights are custom built to your specs, I cannot refund you as stated on the invoice. Only problem is that the bulb isnt tight. This can be fixed by adding something between the bulb and bulb holder.

Performance doesnt mean light output, it means its overall performance as a projector. There was another customer with the same issue. He ended up replacing with Mini D2S 4.0.

The thing is, not all of those projectors are built the same. It is an aftermarket product made in China with low quality control. Some projectors will secure the bulbs correctly, some wont and needs something else in between to secure it more. Since I dont drive around with the lights, I am unaware of the shaking before shipping to you. (THIS IS REFERRING TO THE BUDGET RETROFITS ACME PROJECTORS ONLY)., THERE IS NO ISSUES WITH MINI H1 7.0, MINI D2S 4.0, FX-R, RX350 PROJECTORS.

Again budget retrofits are for looks only and not performance.

    Cliff notes, Morimoto or nothing.

@Garvin74 I'm sure you can get the bulbs secured in there some way and be happy.

Now i know nothing about headlights at all. But a couple thoughts...lol
Mine came with the truck from the factory and they work...why would i need anything more? My eyesight is fine. I think utility...if it aint broke dont fix it.
It always pisses me off to see super bright headlights coming my way or behind me. I always think gosh that owner must be a jackass he does not care if he blinds others on the road.
Why would a company sell headlights that shake? And not state on the website that they shake?
Why would someone buy headlights that are for looks only?
Why would a company sell headlights that are for looks only? LOL
Why would someone who watnts to upgrade headlights go with a budget option?
Havn't we all learned by now that you get what you pay for?
Just my opinions...oh and i think the song in the video is garbage.
Not trying to hurt any feelings...just my opinions.o_O

Got it all apart now bulbs aren't loose I think it is the projector itself bouncing because I can get the reflector bowls to move. I try to shim them maybe that will work.

To each his own. Thats like saying, Why do people lift their trucks, buy bigger or different tires, put sugar in their starbucks coffee instead of drinking it black. Everyone has their own tastes, likes and wants. If your happy with your truck completely stock then thats good for you. But alot of people like to customize their vehicle.

    I get three kinds of customers;

    1. They want performance and a custom look.
    2. They want just performance (stock look)
    3. They want just a custom look (no performance)

Thats why I sell headlights just for looks, and high performance headlights. Because you have to have options for everyone not just a certain crowd.

Again the shaking is not concern to state on a website as its just a matter of how the bulb is secured which can be fixed within minutes easily if the bulb isnt tight and secure. Its like building something and that one screw isnt tight enough.

Projectors are JB welded on. Its impossible for that projector to be loose.

Your right. What I meant is i am able to move the reflector bowl by shaking the back end of the projector since it is jb welded to the bowl if the bowl moves the projector moves too therefore I believe this is causing the shaking.

The reflector bowls do have a little play in them, but thats not whats causing the shaking. Its the bulb. Unscrew the bulb hold and put something in between to secure the bulb more. The bulb holder is tight but the bulb isnt.,
