You can do the regular anytime fog mod.

Or if you want them to only come on with either highs or lows, do a diode isolated high & low beam fog mod (requires 2 diodes and 3 connections instead of 2).

Yeah that's only if you have the dash mounted fog switch (00-02) and you steal power from the parking light circuit, and you have day time running lights. Weird combo.

Yeah. I think maybe they didn't isolate the circuits with a diode and it backfed. I can't recall now exactly what the problem was.

Familiar with ASWC for steering wheel controls but not sure why one would need iDatalink also, which are for steering wheel controls :pccoffee:

I would think they would be bitch slapping each other trying to be in control over the other.

Disregard, fester straightened me out...RTFP

You got better eyes than I have considering his step 3 was about ASWC immediately followed by step 4 iDatalink or perhaps you're simply assuming something I don't see him mention. It is early.

Aha....Step 5, "Wired it in after removing the Metra interface and voila" yep way too early, you can see better than these old eyes.

Kind of glad those burned out in the cargo light, because they were smoking the shit out of that housing.... Definitely a flaw/no ventilation. LED should be way less heat.

So I did LED about 6 years ago and then recently switched all of my bulbs back. The truck didn't like the low voltage draw and caused issues with the LEDs. My lights would flicker on and off. The cargo light and interior lights would strobe and at night it looked like something out of a horror movie when they would be on without the house lights on under the carport. I do not recommend LED.

Need better LEDs. I’ve had some cheap ones, some act like you describe. I’ve had some spendy ones, and they are great.

I've had a random flicker on a t5 in the cluster, but no other issues as described. I did however keep the low fuel incandescent because I was told it's resistance was needed. Pretty sure all of mine were middle road to cheap LED.
For me, the additional brightness to the cluster, (and everything else for that matter) has been super nice. Time will tell I guess.

I cannot confirm nor deny, but we know this to be true for LED headlights when functioning the fog light, and I know this to be true for the highbeam indicator

This is something @Tundra2 used to harp folks about, changing out those bulbs, halogens warp, burn, and melt the hell out of the plastics. I probably should change mine out soon, they're some of the only ones I haven't done yet, turn signals and brakes.

    This ^^

Honestly, I know their bulbs cost 5x as much for a 2-pack, but I can't recommend it enough: If you have a flicker situation, or you're installing bulbs into a safety lamp (brakes), just go to the LAPS and buy name brand LEDs like Sylvania. They're LEDs. It's not like they're going to burn out in the next 3-5 years so you're not throwing premium cash at something you'll replace again in 6 months. Just dump the money on the better bulb.

It always feels like a splurge to me. I usually buy inexpensive Fyreflyz kits to get everything in one lot, and I've rarely had one burn out during my ownership of any vehicle (4-6yrs on avg), I've never had a Sylvania automotive LED give out.

I did used to harp this. I actually changed the entire housing on the V6 and then out in high dolla LEDs in there.

That sum bitch was, and STILL IS bright AF. No warp. No burn. :D

I bought an entire OEM 3rd brake light housing for the future :D

I know those sumbeaches at Toyota are gonna discontinue it within the next couple of years, mark my words. GM did the same crap to me with my last truck, though I was lucky enough to score one of those on fleaBay on a cheap ass snipe, which I then turned around and sold when I got the Tundra for 3x what I paid for it.

New chmsl is a nice upgrade. Not too spendy either. I’m quite happy with mine. Had to cause I ran a Sat radio antenna out it on the first go round but that is no longer how I roll, sat radio was a neat idea but cell signal gets it done these days.

there are photos in my build thread of the space with the assembly off I think. Nothing of how it looked with the sat antenna on. I think my buddy may have chopped it off at some point and just left the cord.

ran it up through a B pillar then in the headliner to the cavity. Out the center of the assembly with a notch in the gasket and a bunch of what I’m betting was just black caulk but now I’d use gasket maker. Magnetic so it just stuck on top of the cab. It worked but I’d put a CB antenna on a bracket off the bed, there are some third gen Tacoma brackets which give an antenna mount off the taillight bolts which doesn’t obstruct the tailgate.

    Here is one:

Congrats! My emissions ended after 15 years here. Getting though safety with a holey frame is what I sweat bullets over each year.
