Just bought a 2000 tundra that had sat for 3/4 years. After a proper oil change I noticed small puffs of white smoke coming from the right valve cover. I've heard that tighten the valve cover to torque spec will make it go away, currently can't change the gasket for valve covers but it is on the list. Would tightening it fix this for long enough to have time to change gaskets? If so what is the torque spec? I keep finding different numbers around the internet. Also the truck won't be a daily driver more like once a week. I'll also upload a video of the smoke if I can. Thanks for the help in advance.

The valve cover gaskets likely need replacing. Don't forget the FIP and half-moons. The bolts have integrated rubber washer and like should be replaced. Don’t overtighten as they are small. Replace you PVC valve as well

Also, check your engine oil levels! It's really clear in the video that you've been leaking an exceptional amount of oil based on what I see at the flange. The side of the head closest to the firewall on driver's side is notorious for cooking oil, which is what it looks like is happening there, I bet you're gonna find things really varnished on that side ...

All the info you need for valve cover gasket replacement is either in this reply, or linked from this reply: https://www.tundras.com/threads/valve-covers-fix-or-leave.105385/#post-2712883
Don't settle for store-bought gasket kits, you'll be doing the job again soon enough, and you will need the FIPG to properly seal the sharp corners on the timing cover side.

I'm going to do a valve cover gasket change and keep seeing something about a half moon. What is that talking about?

Thanks for the insight, I had changed the oil after posting this and tighten the bolts a bit. I got 5 quarts after emptying it and added 6.5 to get it level. The smoke stopped coming after tightening the bolts. I've been busy so my truck has been sitting for now, forgot I posted this.
