I was doing an oil change today and when I removed the filter housing, this little black bolt dropped out as well. Where is that from, is it even from the truck? It's tiny.

Yikes. Maybe during assembly a random screw was just in the oil pan floating for a long time. It looks like it got through the pick up screen and the filter saved it from ruining your engine. If the truck is running ok, I wouldn't worry about it. Just my opinion.

did you wipe the oil off the bolt? Does not look wet so just wondering if maybe it was dropped from above and stuck in a spot and came out when the filter housing was removed. That is very weird

Good catch on the oil and it being clean. I didn't wipe it down, so chances are it didn't come from inside the engine. Maybe just was sitting on the skid plate and dislodged it removing the filter housing? Truck is still running good.

I would agree with your speculation on it getting dislodged. Otherwise, it would have probably come out with previous oil/filter changes.

    Tiny little thing.
From that photo it doesn’t look to have been installed. Normally there’s some degradation of the loctite when I remove things like that.

It's the internal adjustment bolt that they use to set mpg at the factory.
Now your mpgs are gonna suck.
