They also shouldn't be allowed to invest and sponsor $billions into medical facilities and universities, and then be allowed to influence/dictate how medicine is practiced and how students are taught to practice medicine. Which is designed around pushing their product(s).

Not that simple. Example. Many hospitals have closed their emergency rooms which operate at a huge loss providing care to people without insurance. Who do you think gets affected by higher healthcare costs? Cost of living here in Denver is sky high. Denver/Lakewood/Arvada has the highest inflation rate in the country. Add that to skyrocketing housing costs. No, they don't get paid enough.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    reminder Medicare/medicaid set hospital pricing.

they pay .17 on the dollar. Well they did when I left the industry in 2004.

    blue cross/shield paid .20

that’s why the invoice cost is so high. The .17 has to cover the actual cost.

Its a gov run industry now. Set your expectations accordingly.

Ex. I had a cat scan with contrast recently. Invoice cost was $10k. Not even funny.

The reliable comparison of healthcare is the cost of a boob job

it’s been $5k for decades because insurance don’t cover it

Also keep in mind, hospitals certainly get their money from insurance companies and I am sure account (project) for those without insurance they they’ll have to put out to collections. If you’re a private practice MD (like an urgent care- not associated with a hospital) you’re prob pulling in around $200k or so a year pending your contract.

Pure opinion, but I don't like excessively huge honkers. Fake I definitely don't like. I've always said anything more than two handfuls and a mouthful is a waste. ;)

Ya know….i was way too naive to think adding a boob job comparison would knock this train off the track

I guess I should clarify that it's less that I "don't like" than I "don't prefer" giant melons, and I am a firm believer that whatever you naturally have will be preferable to anything man made.

Here's an interesting thought to ponder in reference to government based taxes, fees, or 'price settings' and its influence on being able to afford certain items...

The NFA Tax Stamp which was launched in 1934 was $200 per device.

This fee/tax/permit or whatever you want to call it was established to curtail, discourage and even eliminate the transfer of weapons that fell under the umbrella of the NFA. If we convert that $200 fee/tax to current dollars, it would have been the equivalent of about $4500-$4600 per item. In other words, if you wanted to purchase a suppressed, short barrel rifle in 1934 it would have cost you about $9,000 in fees/tax stamps in addition to the cost of the items.

So, back in those days (outside of active war times) you could pick up an MP40 (9mm sub gun) for about $25, and Tompson SMG (45 cal sub gun) would set you back anywhere from $45-$200 depending on the year.

Point being the NFA tax stamp on top of certain transfers could set you back up to 8 or 9 times the cost of the item...

I'm not complaining, but I wonder why these fees/tax stamps costs didn't increase w/inflation over the years.

    PS>>> Natural over fake!!!!

PPS>>> Canadian Boobs feel different that American Boobs (trust me on this one).... :canada:

    PPPS>>> I need :help:
