1st Gen. Lunch Table - General Discussion

I mean I'm not doggin it, I need to give it a listen. I just remember seeing Jawbreaker on all the pop punk comps my buddy Ned used to buy in high school. So I assumed I wouldn't ike em. But I mean I love the Ramones and early Descendants (before they got too poppy for me). I actually really like early pop punk. I just depise what it became in the 90's and beyond

 

Ramones are a classic example of why it's better some bands die off. Everything from Too Tough to Die onward was pretty much garbage. And by the time they got to Brain Drain, they became laughable at best. Makes me glad bands like Sex Pistols feel apart as they did, can you imagine if they were all still alive and putting out music today? Ooof.

 

Whoa whoa whoa.. too tough to die is a pop punk hardcore masterpiece. The DeeDee vocal versions are the best

 

Yeah, because, songs like "Howling at the Moon (Sha-La-La)" just emote those wicked punk vibes, right?

Ramones were never trying to be a punk band. They were just trying to be a famous rock band. They just were punks. And a lot of the questionable shit on their albums was because of their producer and the record company. They were just weirdos that loved bubblegum pop.

I'm just giving you guff. But the only songs that I thought were really edgy on that album were much fewer than the rest. Mama's Boy and Endless Vacation, maybe one or two others mixed in there? I'd need to give it another listen.

 

First time I heard Endless Vacation I was by myself in my apartment in college and I had eaten some acid. I didn't know the Ramones were even capable of going so hard until then.

 

First time I heard it I thought they invited Johnny Rotten in for vocal cameo.

 

DeeDee's vocals are awesome. CJ's vocals were ok. Joey's are great.
