Does anyone know if there is a trick to getting this stud out holding the rack and pinion in? For some reason, my nut isn’t threading back on right. Got another nut and still won’t thread back on. Was just going to replace the stud too and be done with it but I put a 10mm on it with an impact in reverse and it’s not budging. I was thinking maybe it’s reverse threaded so it wouldn’t back off when unscrewing the nut, but wanted to check here first.

I have no idea about that particular bolt but I do have a bit of experience with stuck bolts.

Are you sure that it isn’t welded on the backside?

let it soak in some rust penetrant and then heat it with a torch.

If all else fails, cut it off and drill it out.

The exploded diagram picture didn’t show up, I fixed it. It seems like it is threaded. There’s a fixed nut on the back side of the cross member.

Got it out. I always under estimate heat.

I looked them up when it was posted…friggin expensive. I just used my BenzOmatic propane bottle torch that I’ve had laying around for 15 years. Won’t get it red hot (or I didn’t wait long enough), but worked like a charm.

I use my welding torch. Old school, but it works.
