Is tech12volts still a thing?

I'm trying to replace some components on my gen2 jbl system which is a huge pain and have come across this guy but I can't figure out the deal with it.

what is the proper website and how do you order from this guy?

some threads here indicate he's not responding to emails anymore but assuming he's still in business, what is the process? do you email him and ask what he has for sale?
does he sell drop in replacements for the jbl speakers?

 

I haven't yet. was hoping to get a feel for how the process works and all but I guess I will just reach out by email and ask him to explain it to me if he's still in business

 

I reached out a few weeks ago. I know he was caught up with some personal stuff. Also I know the recent weather in Florida has caused a mess at the shop. Haven’t heard back recently. Wishing him the best.

He had a major issue with his original website host and lost the entire page a few months ago. He's slowly been trying to build it back up. Patience is going to be key for a while.

Yea I know its weird right now. I'm wanting to add his JBL-amp and single-Sub box. But the page with the AMP only seems to offer the two-sub box, while the page the single box doesn't offer the amp?

 

I messaged him recently here on the forum and never heard back.

 

I sent a few emails over the past few weeks with no response.

 

He's been busy, I've been working with him over the past few weeks, and although frustrating to have to wait around, it is totally worth it. The guy has gone over and beyond to help me with things I didn't even ask for. He aims for A1 customer service, at that comes at a cost (his time), just email and text him and expect a bit of a wait, apparantly his prices are really good also, so i imagine he's flooded with orders.

 

I know it sounds crazy, but he owns a telephone, and if you do as well, you can get an instant answer to all your questions. It's right there front and center on his website.

so I called him and he picked up. he's gonna send me some prices when he gets to his shop in about three hours.

he never did reply to my email. i'll post an update when i hear back

so, since this guy isn't a thing anymore does anyone know anywhere you guy buy drop in replacements for the 2ohm gen2 jbl components?

 

I purchased from him and everything went fine until the install. Realized he hadn’t sent me speaker wire for subs or all the power wires needed. He and I agreed we would settle up on a center speaker purchase I wanted but he has since ghosted after multiple attempts to communicate. I am understanding of personal issues but circle back once you have your life right. I was a huge supporter of JRT and Tech12Volts but I can’t support any longer since I didn’t get what I paid for and he is now silent.

Crazy. When I built my system through him a few years back, he was very responsive and even helped walk me through the install over the phone when I had issues. I hope everything's alright...

 

Same. I know he was busy as hell, and I *believe* either he or someone in his family was dealing w/some health issues. I find it more plausible to believe that he's dealing with health issues or something similar than to just jump to the conclusion that he's ghosting people because reasons.

Oh, totally agree with you, and were I in his shoes, I'd be ticked. With that said...in comparison to some other companies/individuals who have somewhat of a long history of starting off with ridiculous shipping estimates and then get worse....this is totally out of character for Taylor (guy who runs Tech12Volts). That's all I'm saying.

 

I’d urge you to keep following up with calls and emails. When I did my system in 2020 there were some minor hiccups but once I was able to get his attention he was helpful in resolving the issues.

If he truly blows you off - maybe admins need to look at removing him from the vendor list but I hope for everyone involved that doesn’t need to happen.

BTW, 3.5 years later the system he put together for me still kicks ass.

 

does anyone know what his drop in speaker replacements for the gen2 jbl systems were? so I can piece it together elsewhere?
I already went the other way on my remote start, I've got a compustar getting installed today but the speakers in this thing are trickier

 

It’s changed throughout the years. For a while it was JL Audio stuff; then he went to Hertz. May have been some others in there as well.

 

any idea on specific components? as far as I've seen, they don't make any 2ohm speakers that would be needed to match this amp, right? maybe i'm misunderstanding
