In the scheme of things, I don’t think you gain much from the diff drop. Reboot and scoot

Agreed. The difference in angle of the cv is negligible, IMO. Plus, I wasn't a fan of the angle it puts on the front drive shaft and tcase.

I'm diff dropping for science purposes. I don't think it's going to net me more than 2-3° of angle change. But I want to finally answer the question: Will diff drop stop the slang after a 2.5" lift?

I'll end up re-clamping anyway. And we know this. But I like to experiment so you can give legit answers to questions later. "Well, I did yadda yadda and XYZ as the result, so ... lesson learned!"

Hell naw. I value my time too much, if a re-clamp would solve the issue. Don't need no stinkin VAG parts on my 'yota.

Everyone should strive for vag over toy.

probably a pre vag rubber formula. When parts werent made to be replaced.

    LOL! Too funny ^^

Maybe. You want my diff drop set to try? Super easy, barely an inconvenience to install.

It’s already been answered, I have a diff drop and still slang grease after a lift. But I’m all for more science

I'm going to go ahead and call it. Diff drop is going to be about as effective as the ICON AAL.

I'm in the camp that they're not effective and just tilt the diff a little bit. There was a CAD and thread similar to this one somewhere on here for Tundras, but I can't find it. Similar concept though

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/cv-angles.230749/#post-5432474

My diff drop will be coming out when I regear because its the last Toytec item on my truck (and the only one that hasn't broken, yet)

I'm basically 99% in agreement with y'all. Toytec shipped a diff drop when I ordered stuff (or maybe I added it on, I forget, it was only like $25 or something), so I've got it on-hand, and it looks ike it may take 20-30 casual minutes to install (tops), but believe me ... I'll have new clamps in-hand in the days/weeks to follow its install to deal with the inevitable re-clamp that's coming (and if I'm reclamping, the diff drop will be coming right back out again).

I was looking to pull the trigger on these (not necessarily from this vendor) just because it's got a rolled edge and is more minutely adjustable on-the-fly with basic tools, but wanted to crawl up under the truck first to check the current bands for length before dropping coin; clamps are cheap enough. I'm assuming this 100-120mm clamp will suffice. I've had square-edge band clamps cut thru rubber in the past, not gonna go there on this one.

I rarely (if ever) take comments around here as snarky/rude. I don't have a stick up my ass on most days :D I can't imagine being that uptight!

(PS - you weren't wrong, bro. seriously! Icon's AAL is a joke! I lambasted them in my review on Summit Racing's site!)

Today I dismounted the old tries on the extra Patrick Star rims I have. I needed to make room in the garage for Christmas stuff that won't fit in the attic. The Rims without tires will now go into the attic.

Then I sanded down my hood to prep for paint. I'm sure you remember what it looked like

Nobody ever listens to me. That's what happens when you put a first gen Tacoma AAL on a Tundra. Wheelers progressive or no AAL and skip to the big boy leaf packs.

Icon in general is overpriced crap.
And their reps are afraid to actually drive their rigs. It's all just for show. Watching em gingerly exhibit their wares at Jambo was worth a chuckle.

For me, it's definitely pretty short. And too many typos. And sadly it isn't showing up in my account under 'my reviews', so I can't go in and edit/fix the damn thing!

    Good luck!
I did the clamp mod but it didn't keep the boots from splitting. But that could be due to the spacers; only the upgraded boots helped...

This one would be what did my wife do to my FGT today. Not 15 minutes after I got home, she left to go to choir practice and somehow backed into the left rear of my truck. She’s says, “I hit your truck, but there’s no damage.” It’s not a big deal.

If I was there I'd help you buff it out. Good part is, looks like it's a nice, smooth dent with no major creases, which means any PDR guy worth half their weight in salt can pop it right back out.

But show me a guy on here who hasn't used his truck and gotten those same bottom-corner dents ... even I have at least two or three.
