Lower ball joints/part numbers

Peeps can I get a double check on these part numbers. Looking to replace my Moog lower ball joints due to the recall. I've a 2005 DC 2wd. The 187 part number is for the 8 bolts correct? Thanks

Am planning on replacing the LBJs on my 2000 with OEM when I replace the CV Axles. Rather than re-using the old ones, I'd like to replace the 8 LBJ bolts with new. I've searched here as well as Toyota Parts Online and they don't list them for an '00 for some reason.

The closest I've come is 90105-10085 but the description reads "Bolt, NO.1 (For Propeller Shaft & Differential Setting)". Maybe they're one the same, but...

Can the experts here confirm the correct LBJ bolt part number for a 2000 AC 4x4?

This is what I ran on my 01. 00 should be same.

 

Thanks Nick... I did see that. When I put that part number in Toyota Parts Online it says it does not fit. It might, and it'd be cheap to find out, but when it's apart I don't want to have to stop and run to the store or use the old ones if I can help it.

From reading umpteen various posts, it looks like Toyota liked to change those things up on a regular basis.

 

If I put in my truck it says it doesn't fit it either. It does say it fits a bunch of 1st gen Tacoma's and 3rd gen 4runners.
I'm not for sure why it says it doesn't fit but I can tell you for sure that's the part number I ran and it hasn't blown apart yet. I do understand your concern though. Maybe someone else will chime in but I know I got the recommendation to use that PN from someone else.

Getting ready to order LBJ's for our '00 AC SR5 4x4 and wanted to confirm that these LBJ flange bolts will fit:

Toyota PN 90080-10066

Of course, if they won't, would welcome the correct PN.

So after a lot of back-and-forth about which bolts to install in the LBJs on our 2000 AC 4x4, it turns out that the ARP 663-1004 hardened bolts and washers are the ones to go with.

My understanding is that they will also fit 2001 however they may or may not fit '02 - '06 due to an additional LBJ boot that the '00 and '01 do not have.

 

To go along with last post by @richsadams

If you want the best of the best lower ball joint bolts go with the ARP bolts. These are only known to fit trucks without the boot protector so far. If you have the protector you may need longer bolts, such as the 663-1005 which are 40mm instead of 35mm

PN 663-1004 for no boot protector. The images of these bolts show they have a short shank section ( shaft with no threads) but out of 3 sets that have been ordered none of them have actually had it. Though I'm pretty sure this wouldn't be an issue if they did show up with it.

These are pricy but should never break either.

 

This thread is TLDR. Someone just tell me if I can order new bolts from Toyota and if so, what torque spec should I use? I'm not paying $60 for fancy bolts if I don't need to.

New LBJ's installed this week. The ARP 663-1004 hardened bolts and washers worked perfectly and life is good. Replaced the front coils, shocks, sway bar links, CV Axels, timing belt, serpentine belt, idlers and water pump at the same time. Hopefully it'll be good for another quarter-million miles!

Both the TC and Chaos fab products are limited to '00-'03 only, but TC's releasing support for later models in the near future per Mike.

 

Sorry, I’m not running them yet. My LBJs are new so I can’t justify spending $1k yet. I definitely will eventually because JBJ failure makes me nervous.

 

Didn't figure it was worth starting a new thread for this question so I figured I'd ask here since it regards LBJs. I'm working on my priority list for my recently purchased 04 DC. Based on the records, the LBJs were replaced by a toyota dealership when the truck had 40k (so presumably they used OEM). It does not look like they have been replaced since. Is there a general lifetime y'all adhere to for replacing the OEM ones? The truck currently has 181k on it, so the LBJs on the truck have 141k on them.

00-01(02-04 no protector) OEM "green" bolt PN 9008010066 Torque to 59ft-lbs (SINGLE USE BOLT ONLY)
00-03(04) ARP bolts (stronger but higher cost not long enough for protector) 663-1004 from ARP
00-03(04) "Black" bolt for use with protector only 9011910933 Torqued to 37ft-lbs
04-06 PN 9010512316 Torqued to 58 ft-lbs according to the manual. Spiker states up to 80ft-lbs is also ok.

04 in parentheses is in reference to the ball joint change happening in 04 so they will have either styles depending on production date.

 

I'm looking to buy the Totota LBJ kit (and the 8 bolts # 9010512316) for my 2004 Tundra, and when i look up the number 04006-62134 (Late '04 - '06 LBJ kit) most https://autoparts.toyota.com won't accept that p/n. Am i doing something wrong?

I also learned that McGeorge Toyota is now Ourisman Toyota of Richmond, and I fear that they will no longer be the great parts source they have been

 

I just called up my local dealer with the p/n 04006-62134 (Late '04 - '06 LBJ kit). Turns out that it's a warrenty repair kit that's ONLY available if the truck qualifies for the recall. The truck has to be brought to the dealer to have those ball joints installed by their service department. So yeah, they won't just sell that kit to the general public.

 

That sounds like Stealership B.S...

 

Couple diff't folks were able to order online from McGeorge Toyota using that p/n. I'm not saying your local stealership is wrong, just that they're potentially misguided on what's possible for average people like us who aren't limited to dealing only with your stealership who's out to make a buck over everyone else's dead body.

Someone on here said they've been bought by someone else.

But if they're doing it, I can assure you, other dealers selling online are doing it too. There are a few of them. If you google for the part number, you'll find them. I want to say there's a couple in FL, one in Lakeland, and one near Tampa that offer similar service to McGeorge at similar discount and advertise that part number specifically.

 

Pardon me for being thick, but now i'm confused as all get out as to which lower (and upper) ball joints i actually need...as well as which year 4wd spindles they fit. I was under the impression that the...

2000-2003 Toyota Tundra 2WD and 4WD use the smaller ball joints at the bottom and are compatible with the 2000-2003 4wd spindles.
2004-2006 Toyota Tundra 2WD and 4WD use the larger ball joints at the bottom, and are compatible with the 2004-2006 4wd spindles.

Is there a third type of both LBJ and 4wd spindle? It's just that i'm getting conflicting answers from different toyota parts fiches. I need to buy both upper and lower BJs, matching 4wd spindles, and the 8 bolts and i would like to buy the strongest version of what toyota made for the tundra.
