Electric Window and Door Lock Conversion

My truck is an SR5. About as a base of an SR5 as you can get. She came factory with goodies, such as chrome bumpers, wheel arch moldings, bodyside moldings, carpet, and cloth seats. However, she had steel wheels, no tint, roll up windows and manual locks.

Years ago I tinted the windows and replaced the steel wheels for a set of Patrick Stars. It’s now time to upgrade to electric windows and keyless entry.
I figured while I was in there, I would go ahead and replace the speakers since the ones in the front were about six years old and the ones in the back were 24 year old OEMs.

The electric window conversion kit, and the keyless entry are all cheap aftermarket items that you can find on Amazon and eBay. I know, I can hear y’all now. “you shoulda (insert comment here). Well, shoulda coulda woulda, I didn’t. I decided to go with the least cost effective approach that would not require a lot of modification as to allow me to revert back to factory if need be.

i’m not going to insult y’all by going through taking off a door panel 101 so I took some pictures of the progress so far for your enjoyment.

Trying to figure out how to attach the door lock actuator to the lock cable was a bitch. Thankfully, there was a guy on YouTube who had done this thing before on a Corolla.

I ran out of daylight during this project. I’m sure you can see the progression of the sun in the pictures. It wasn’t as simple and straightforward as I thought it was going to be. The speakers were easy and the window kit was easy, so far. The only pain in the ass was the door lock actuators. I’ve got those figured out now.

Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to get under the dash and get everything wired up and tested. Stay tuned.

 

Keyless entry is wired up and working great. I can’t figure out how to upload a video, yet. I’ll get there. Until then, enjoy pictures.

That would've taken me 6 trips to Napa Auto and driving for a week with no door panels. It's nice when a project works. !

I was definitely skeptical when you posted that window kit but that seems pretty neat. Seems like it will work pretty well.

I'm impressed. Nice work! I'm surprised to learn an access cab came with manual locks and windows.

 

Everything worked great today. No hiccups. All seems really solid!
