I looked at that picture 3 times and just finally saw a guy with a pressure washer hiding in plain sight there. Couldn’t figure out why a lift would be outdoors.

Yeah sorry for the crappy pic, it was through the window. Going outside the camera was full of mist and the sun was terrible. The place is not the best looking but the guy has been there for 29 years. Not bad at all for a 29 yr old business. This is the first time I have ever had that done, like I said I have some work I need to do under it and under the hood. It got pretty nasty when doing 20 days of wheeling in Colorado. I had some thick black mud I needed to remove and this was the chit!!

That is a great resource to have at your disposal. I’ve never seen a detail shop here that lifts their vehicles like that.

We have lots of places around us that do this, but they are high end detailers and do all washing and coating applications in doors. If you want just an exterior wash with the undercarriage, it's around $350-$400

Changed the oil. First time since putting on Talon skid plates. While the oil dripping out the laser-cut eagle's Talons looks menacing, pouring about a quart of oil on the driveway from every edge of the plate kinda aggravated me. I'll be researching...

On the plus side, I know the numbers are right, nothing star-torqued or stripped, and the skid plate still has all it bolts.

terminated the chase lights in the Bullet Proof Diesel third brake light housing to start looking at my installation plans for that. Then realized I didn't have enough wire to start routing the hookup to the lights, and moved off to other projects.

Finally got time to crawl underneath the truck and work on the Rough Country rear bumper install. I was able to get the factory harness installed and all the sensors back in. Everything works again! Well, almost. Didn't wire in the license plate lights or the rear LEDs. But I'm happy that my rear camera and back up sensors are working again. I really missed them when trying to park this beast.

Then I tried to install the Tuff Country rear add-a-leaves. Fail.

    20231001_160748.jpg

The truck simply has more flex than I have jack stands. I maxed out my floor jack, and was about to grab the Hi-lift to finish the job when I realized that I didn't have anything tall enough to safely rest the truck on. So, will have to borrow some redneck jackstands (unsplit firewood rounds) or just have a shop install them.

After that fail, I then changed the oil. Skid plate was much easier to get off than the one on my 4Runner. Used an OEM filter cartridge and Mobil 1 5-20. Should be good to get me through winter.

Best investment I’ve made is some 12 ton jack stands that have 28-30” of reach. Bought them for my k5 on 37’s and end up using them for nearly everything. For example, I only go up 1 click on them to keep the front tire off the ground on my tundra and I’m on 34’s.

Also, take your tires off. Less jack height needed to drop the axle when you don’t have 16”+ of wheel and tire in the way.

What is part number for that cable tie found by the frame in front passenger's wheel well? Mine broke the clip and now rubs against the frame. 0.3" universal push type zip ties are too narrow and don't sit snug in the hole.

I have an Air Up/Down system installed on my truck for over 5 years and I have used it a handful of times. I removed it from my truck and was intending to clean up wiring and repair the broken LED distribution device. I had one connection on one zone that is uncontrollable. I ended up stopping pretty quick after pulling out the Air Up/Down system and had to play nurse and babysitter for one of our dogs. She has what looks like an abscess so we worked on it and had to keep her from licking afterwards. Full time job for sure...

They fit, oe bumps are the same between 3rd gen and 2nd gen, but doubt they will be offered for 2nd gen.. The compressed height is different than the oe bump, doesn’t matter on the 3rd gen as it only uses one reinforced bump stop per side, 2nd gen has 2 per side. Would require spacing the existing oe bump down to match the compressed height of the Icon bump, do not want that to be different. Not my pic, 2nd gen with 3rd gen Icon bumps.

How do you expect these to be any different than duro or super bumps? They're much cheaper than duros and a bit cheaper than supers, so that is a plus.

This is specific for my use on a long travel suspension vehicle. I really don’t expect them to be better than other offerings for most uses. Ran both the other options on different set-ups, was very happy with them.

    - Icon is a foam bump stop vs. rubber, hopefully this will have less/more linear rebound than rubber. Lower compression resistance and shorter life are expected due to the foam.

    - Shorter, purchased the short version for lowered vehicles. My secondary shock has a bump zone built into it, the taller height of the others comes into play at a different point in the suspension travel before the bump zone. Makes tuning the suspension little more complicated, and it’s just not needed in my case due to the shock bump zone.
