    Meet Sugaree!!!

Some of you may have heard on here that my 2001 w 214k miles blew the timing belt…RIP Goldenrod…I luckily found this mint LB bout 2 hrs away. It was traded in 2 days before for a Ford Tremor and who ever owned it took pristine care of it!! Probably garage kept!! 2016 SR5 w 46k miles for $33k.

I can’t believe it’s mine!! I sometimes take a peek at her out in the driveway just to convince myself she’s mine!! Lol

besides a recently discovered leak in ceiling of rear cab that I have to figure out….she’s perfect!!! Plan on camping in the truck bed for huntin n fishin trips!!

I would guess when the topper went on, someone took the bulbs out of the 3rd brake light (because that’s what I did) when didn’t reseal it properly.

Bulbs are in light. There is quite a gap though on the housing

After thinking bout it…I do remember a musty smell in her when I first checked it out but didn’t notice anything. And she sat on the lot for a few days without being detailed…so maybe dealer knew bout it but didn’t wana get her wet?? It ain’t a deal breaker whatsoever and I’m still super stoked to have her…but I wonder if the dealer would help fix her? I have a 3 month 10k mile warranty with dealer and an extended warranty for mechanical and electric issues. The dealer was a Ford Dealership.

Something hit and dented it. You can see it clearly.

Congrats on the purchase but good luck getting the dealer to do anything about it. It is very likel not part of the warranty coverage. It is your problem now and you probably address it ASAP.

Not sure he said anything about pushing on the dealer to do anything about it or warranty? He simply just states he has a roof leak which he plans to address. I would imagine he plans to address it ASAP.

Congrats on the find @Adventundra!! She’s a beaut!

I agree here. Looks like something may have fell on it. Maybe they replaced the 3rd brake light but didn't do anything with the dent.

They could try to see if someone can PDR that area to make it seal better. It might not be 100% but it probably could be 70/80% cleaned up.

Use a chlorine bomb or Meguire's air refresher to get that smell out. Or an ozone machine. There were a few linked for $70 on Amazon.

Congrats I have a crewmax and honestly I hate the 5.5 foot, I’m like a girl where the half foot makes a world of difference (that’s what she said) I think the back seat is uselessly big and if Toyota shrank the crew cab just a little and made it a 6 foot bed it would be the perfect truck. I have a single cab Tacoma with the six foot bed so I can speak first hand experience how much actual real world useful a six foot bed is compared to the 5.5 it’s so bad I’m always on the fence of selling the tundra, it’s like I’m trying to force myself to love it but that 5.5 ft is a deal breaker anyway apologies for the rant and congrats

Gang, you could keep tailgate down and pretend it's 7' in a twisted way I guess..:boink:

Btw, i can totally relate to not having enough length(no jokes plz) when I was hauling 12ft joists in my 8ft bed. It was hanging off like two extra feet even with tailgate down and felt like miles!

That's a great deal and yes, perfect truck.
I would run some clear silicone along the top of the 3rd brake light housing for now. It will stop the leaking until you can get to it and will come off fairly easily.
If that is a dent, I would probably slide the cap back, remove the whole light housing and cover the wire holes with some white gorilla tape. The light is useless with the cap on anyway and it will always leak with that dent there.

I looked at it again in the daylight and didn’t see a dent…the pic may look like a dent but it’s not dented. Light housing may be off a lil bit

He actually wrote that he wondered if the dealer would help fix it. And I wrote he would need some good luck to get the dealer to do anything about it.

Whatever you do, please DO NOT use clear silicone. Or any other silicone. Even as a temp fix. I could rant about that crap for hours.

If the cab is dented and the lens gasket can no longer do its job, I would probably discard the gasket and use high quality butyl tape in its place.

Just understand that with butyl tape, you need to tighten the screws down incrementally over a period of days, while the excess butyl is slowly squeezed out. The lens will be water tight throughout the process, and the excess butyl can be easily removed when it is no longer oozing out.

You got a great truck, congrats!!
