I'm with you on that. My last new American made car was a 2007. I was solely a buy American car kinda guy leading up to that. But now? I buy strictly Toyota.

Reading these comments, gotta say I’m surprised that Tundras are so popular among executives and shareholders.

I was under the impression that people here worked for a living.

I work my ass off for modest income. Have for the last 35 yrs and will probably have to for another 15.
So, I want a good product for my money.
    That's why I drive Toyotas.

Folks get paid for 2 things:

    for what they do (UAW)
for what they know (biz leaders, professionals, etc)

one of those groups does exponentially better than the other.

    Some of them drive Tundras.

    That's just life.

pick your path and be happy. Life is too damn short.

I assume that you're referring to all the comments that are against the union.
All I can say is that just because people work for a living, doesn't mean they're always on the side of the unions.
I personally don't care if the UAW and big 3 auto makers all simultaneously eat and fuk each other. Doesn't affect me. Well, until it does. I'm not for or against either side. It's one big clown show. But I don't think tax payer money should be involved at any point. That's the only time I have anything serious to say about any of this.

    This right here. Huzzah!

Tax payer has NOTHING to do with this UAW strike....but we will bail them all out.

    hide and wait.

Originally, I was planning on Spain. My Filipino ancestry has history there along with stunning architecture and fabulous food. Other places I’ve considered over there are Portugal, Italy, and Greece. I also considered Australia, because they, like us, are in need of blue collar workers (they call them “tradies”). But they are just as expensive as the good ol’ US of A, if not more so. However, it does seem their work/ life balance is much better AND, like most other foreign countries, there is ZERO “tip culture” which has gotten way out of hand here. So, that leads me to Costa Rica. I visited there 2 years ago. I met quite a few ex-patriots that said it’s the best decision they ever made. Low cost of living and close enough to fly “home” should they need to attend to any affairs stateside. There are downsides, but if you’re living on or overlooking the beach for a fraction of what it costs elsewhere, who cares. I’d be on the beach, fishing, surfing, or whatever the hell else I want to do in retirement…at 55. I’ve had enough of the rat race.

so I heard a take on this topic today that I had not heard previously. The unions are realizing that EVs need MUCH FEWER assembly people than conventional vehicles, and they are attempting to prepare. Anybody else hear this?

    IMHO,
If most EV manufacturing wasn't subsidized and EV sales supported by tax credits there prolly would be no strike. The Big 3 plants making only EV's would be shuttered already.

There's a huge regional GM parts facility a couple miles away that's being picketed. GM parts supply chain at a standstill. Yawning now.
