I'm having trouble finding the thread I read previously while I'm on my phone.

Is it reasonably possible to change my front bearings and hubs using my bearing swap kit (threaded rod various plates and spacers) on my 2005 Tundra?

It has worked fine for all my FWD cars and all wheel drive SUV's.

Please advise. My normal local shop doesn't like to do work on parts off the street. So I'm trying to avoid needing a press.

    Thanks
    Ross

I called my mechanic and asked again... He said he's too old to do that type of work, hahaha... Then gave me the name of another shop down the road that does good work. I called and the guy quoted me $125 if the spindles are off the truck.

    Problem solved.
    Thanks folks!

Dang it. Maybe I’ll pack em in my suitcase, I’ll be in Pittsburgh Tuesday.

A press is like $200 and handy for a lot of things, just saying.

I use mine on average about once a month for something, but the other 353 days a year? Its just occupying valuble shop space. It ends up being a catch all for junk. The real trick is to convince a friend that they need one.

If I had less space, or used it any less it would be one of the first things to go.

To be clear, you need a 50 ton press. Cheapest one I found at HF was $258 on sale. Not terrible, but I already have access to a 20 ton, not sure where to store another press.

I used 20 ton press for mine. Don't think I'd want to do it without.

I also used a 20t press to do mine. It’s a fairly involved process. Had the race stick to the hub, so replaced those as well. IMG_4387.jpg

These are encouraging posts. I will try with the 20 ton we have and only upgrade if it fails.

remember that both heat and ice will help facilitate a much easier time pressing

All your bass are belong to us

$125 is a good price. That's what I got charged per spindle on mine.
