    okay, c’mon now @Voss. You can’t just be casually talking about how cool the color orange is on a first gen tundra like this without posting a pic. You know what I’m talking about…..

    Do they have the same backspacing? I have #2. I like both. If you want to be different go with #1. I've never seen anyone run those. FN is the brand?

    The FNWs are a 17" replica of the original 16" Baja TRD wheels. They made them 17" so that they'd fit more vehicles. I was planning on pulling the trigger on the Ray 10s tonight since they'll possibly be back in stock, but stumbled across the FNWs by accident. Got the 4 wheels, 24 lugs, and 2 sets of caps (machined FNW and blank bronze) delivered for $1,099. Dustin at FNW was a super nice guy on the phone and was very helpful. I had them delay the shipment because I'll be out of town. Once I get back and get them mounted I'll post some pics.

    Been pulling around a 21ft, 5500gvw TT all summer and the Tundra has done just fine, but was sagging just a bit in the rear and then with the addition of the camper top, it was sagging a good deal and was causing heavy bias to the rear brakes. So I decided the quickest-best way to help it would be to throw on some air bags. (Longterm I've got a wilwood manual adjuster to throw in place of the LSPV).

    Used the Firestone 2245 kit and the some cheapy Amazon cradles.

    Everything went in really well. Have to drill 4 holes in the frame per side and the hardest part was trying to hold the bracket in place to mark the holes for drilling. Had to get an extra set of hands for that.

    Decided to put the air lines into a tee and use only one valve. Can always change it up if that ain't working well. Had a perfect size hole thru my rear plate where I used to have wiring run thru for a rear camera that broke so I pulled it off and stuck the valve in that spot. Worked out pretty sweet.

    Have to haul the TT again tomorrow so will give it a good test then.

    (And ya, she's a dirty girl right now. She's been getting used pretty good the past month out in Central Utah. :cool: )

    @digitalferg
    I've been thinking of doing the TT thing when I retire. I've got my eye on a 19-footer that's just a shade over 3,200 lbs. empty, so probably around 4,000 fully loaded and full tanks. I was reading comparisons of pulling a TT with a Tacoma vs Tundra, but the Tundras were 2nd and 3rd gens with 5.7s or the new TT models. Everyone was bitching about pulling with the Tacos. I figured a 1st gen would probably land somewhere between the two in towing. My 2006 4WD AC is rated for 7,100, so I figured maxing-out at 4,000 wouldn't be that bad. What has your experience been?

    On flat highway, I can roll at 80-85mph with the TT on and and it feels fine (in normal, calm weather conditions of course). That's also with a WDH so it's nice and tight. (I've also got GX460 front brakes and SOS FJ Cruiser rear discs setup so I can actually really STOP the truck. And I've got a brake controller in cab and using the trailer brakes too.)

    But I'm in Utah so there ain't too much of that. haha. I'm in a 06 DoubleCab and it pulls ok over the passes. The big steep ones will get me down to 50-55mph. I also have the Torque app and watch the coolant and transmission temps pretty closely.

    I would wager 4k gross will be no big deal unless you're a racecar driver.

    I didn’t do anything to my FTG today, but I could have. Today was the slowest day the I have ever seen in my shop. It was horrible. Guys were playing baseball out of crap they could scrounge up, just to pass the time. I send most of the techs home early.
    Tomorrow’s schedule isn’t looking much better. Therefore, I’m planning to recondition my OEM wheels. I’ve packed everything I’m going to need into the cab. One of two things is going to happen tomorrow. Either I am going to sand, paint and balance these wheels or we are going to have so much work come in that I won’t have the time to do it. My heart wants to do the wheels. My bills want me a reason to not.

    EDIT: I had done a bit of drinking that morning before traveling to Lowe’s to pick out the rattle can color. I’m sure it will look good:)
